T'bel was stripping down Fanth's straps and giving her a well deserved
pat on the flank when he spied his wingsecond out of the corner of his
eye. }:Jodeth's handsome:{ his green observed, preening a bit.
**You fancy him, eh?**
}:Only if something ever happened to Manarth.:{ She looked about for
her weyrmate but he was across the bowl, involved in his own drills.
T'bel snorted at that, as that was the last thing poor G'waren needed
was for the two dragons not to be mated, now. It was a defeated man
that T'bel lived with at the moment, ever since that incident happened
between his kid and Sh'lua. As his weyrmate, T'bel should have been
on his side, but his heart went out to G'wen, rather than his dad. If
the kid could inflict some of the same suffering he had taken under
his father's thumb then so be it. This would be a harsh lesson for
G'waren and one he had coming.
P'nal had finished his daily swim and the brownrider found himself
saying hello to some of his wingriders who were working or relaxing.
After some hellos, he spotted T'bel and headed over there. "Having
a good day then, T'bel?"
The smaller rider laughed at that. "Well, Fanth's trying to decide if
she wants to ditch Manarth for Jodeth right now." He mock shook his
head at that. "Like my poor weyrmate needs that on his plate now."
"Well I'm sure Jodeth wouldn't say no, but greens are what they are
and sometimes they do change their minds." He looked up at the sky,
keeping a casual tone, though his concern was there. "So things haven't
gotten better?"
"What, with me and...?" T'bel looked over the bowl to his weyrmate's
dragon. Grimacing, he ran his hand through his hair and said, "Well,
G'waren's about to implode with what just happened with his kid and
all. Things_were_starting to get better, then that happened..."
"Yeah but just because that happened to his kid doesn't mean he needs
to treat you like a wherry. Has something like this happened before?" If
there was a pattern, that was something else.
"What, that his kid tries to sleep with someone and half the Weyr
finds out about it?" T'bel's voice held his amusement at the whole
incident. "No, this_was_a first."
"No I mean..if something happens in his life that he has no control over,
he begins to treat you like wherry shite.." P'nal replied.
"Hey, he's okay, he's still my partner." He gave his wingsecond a
serious look. "He just has to work through the fact that he can't
control his child anymore. Once that boy gives him a slap or two,
metaphorically speaking, then he'll calm down a bit."
"Hm, so he's not taking it out on you then?" he wanted to make sure.
"You mean hitting me? He's_not_that type!"
"Not just that..sometimes verbal and other treatment is just as inappropriate."
P'nal didn't want his wingriders dealing with more stress than what they already
had. Threadfall and possible death was enough.
"No, nothing like that. He's just depressed and it colors everything
around him. If anything, maybe you should have a talk with E'naer
about the boy. He's the one that needs the support, not me." T'bel
leaned into Fanth and patted her. "Having one of these beauties is
not making things easy for either one of them. I think G'waren was
really sure the boy'd get a blue...even though the rest of us knew he
was a sure thing for a green. It's just he's more than a bit scared
for his kid, what with him being so small and all, and he also is a
bit scared the child is going to be like he was in the past."
"Mmm....well....we do have those from time to time. I'll tell E'naer but
it might be good for Kenza to have a word. She's a greenrider after all
and has a kid of her own in that bunch I think." His mind began to work.
"Yeah, K'ale. He's a good kid. D'ale's boy." From what little
interaction T'bel had with the guy, K'ale seemed as good a person as
his father. "There's a more positive father-son interaction, eh?"
T'bel sighed, missing the more happy days before G'wen was even a
candidate.
"Well it can be hard probably sometimes. I don't have kids myself that I know
of, but I imagine it would be a worrisome business." He shrugged, decidedly
not wanting to go down that road.
"Well, if I have any kids about, they'd be ones that I birthed, so we
all know there are no worries there!" T'bel gave the brownrider a wink
and laughed at the silly thought.
"Mmmm allright well I'll leave you be. I'll talk to Kenza and maybe we
can get this straightened out." He nodded to himself.
"Okay..." T'bel watched him with apprehension, wishing he'd just let
things be with G'waren.
