Location: Amber Hills Hold
Date: month 2, day 14 of Turn 6
Notes: Mentioned: Wirnan

Kaya's eyes followed the movements of the men and boy as they raced up
the hill. Their laughter trickled back down to the blanket where she
and Dwirdara sat. Caenifer sat in her lap, hands curled about a finger
on each hand and Kaya let them bob up and down which made the little
girl smile. "They seem to be enjoying themselves." She comments to the
woman beside her, then looks over at Wirnan's sister. "We should do
this more often."

"Aye, that they do and yes, yes we should." Dwidara had grown to like
Kaya more and more since they'd been spending time together. She still
didn't understand what had really happened between them and had
believed Wirnan's tale that he had not touched the girl, but rather she
had concocted the whole situation. Yet, the more she knew Kaya the
harder it was for her to believe this sweet, young lady could create
such a devious plan. Having decided to leave all that in the past,
Dwidara had made a pact with herself that she would treat Kaya just as
she would anyone who might have married her brother. At least until she
could make her own mind up about the girl.

"You two seem to be getting along quite a bit better lately, or so I've
noticed." She glanced at the other woman out of the side of her eyes.
Perhaps she would be more forthcoming with information that her brother
had been. He'd become rather closed mouthed about things lately.

"Ah. Yes. Yes we are." Kaya had to agree to that. Oh they still had
their moments. Still had their arguments, but the truce still held and
that kept things from getting worse. And he had kept good on his
promise, though Kaya often woke up in his arms when teh day came, no
matter how much of a border she tried to put up. Usually he was asleep
when it happened and she would just creep out without waking him as
best she could. "He's...he's not really a bad sort. In many ways."

"No, he's not," Dwidara said, glancing over to where her brother played
with her husband and son. "I don't know where I'd be without him,
really. He's been a rock of support when I needed him. You'd think it
would be the opposite. Him being the baby and all, but," she shook her
head though she was smiling, "Wirnan's always been a good protector."

Looking over to Kaya she asked, "What about you? Do you have brothers or
sisters?"

"I do." Kaya nodded, watching the play between father, uncle and son.
Her expression softened as he watched them. "My eldest is my only
sister. I have five brothers in between her and me." For some reason
she found her gaze particularly resting upon Wirnan and the boy rather
than Dwidara's husband. "How...how much younger is he than you? If
you don't mind me asking."

"Actually, not much," she replied with a grin. "In fact I'm only a
little more than a turn and half older than Wirnan. Our sister Zessa
and brother Shovyn are older though. We don't see either of them much,
but Wirnan and I were always close. Are you close to any of your
siblings?"

"Yavarn and Kavor. Yavarn is a turn and a half older than me, Kavor
three. We had a lot of romps together when we were younger." And when
they were older, they did their best to keep Kaya from getting too much
of her father's heat. "How did you meet your husband?"

"We met at Amethyst Cliff, before...well, I'm sure you know that story.
Anyway, we had seen each other around, but hadn't really spoken. But
then one day when the spring caravans rolled into the hold, Leionon
showed up with a gift for me. And each day after that, he did the
same." She smiled fondly at the memory. "We were still young then, but
each turn when the caravans come, I often feel like I'm relieving that
special moment of my youth."

"The caravans came every turn to Amethyst cliff?" That caught Kaya's
attention but also surprise. She knew caravans visited holds, but she
didn't realise they were so regular. "Do they visit here too?"

Dwidara knit her brows as she thought for a moment, "I can't say they
still visit Amethyst Cliff as regularly, not since the earthquake, but
they have been coming here nearly every turn since we've been here. It
will be a nice time. Perhaps you and Wirnan will find some things
together then. Or maybe he'll surprise you like my Leionon did for me."
She glanced out and gazed lovingly at her husband.

Ah, so they didn't come to Amethyst Cliff, they came _there_! To Amber
Hills! Kaya's eyes brightened. "Indeed. I'm sure it will be very
interesting when they come." And they would be the way for her to get
out of there. Then Wirnan would be rid of her and all the trouble that
came with her and she'd be free. Free! But she couldn't focus on them
too much. No need to rouse suspicious. "So...how long have you two
been married?"

"Just over 16 turns. Leionon wanted to prove himself in his craft
first. I had almost begun to worry he would never ask me," She smiled
at the memory.

"And he's...good to you?" Kaya lowered her voice so as to make certain
that neither of the men heard her. She had a feeling he was from the
short time she'd known them but...sometimes, looks could be deceiving.

She gave a little laugh as she leaned in closer. "_Very_ good to me, if
you get my meaning." Dwidara's eyes fairly glowed at the thought. "Has
my brother treated you poorly in anyway? If he's not doing as a husband
should, I'll speak to him for sure!"

Kaya arched an eyebrow. Oh she got her meaning. "No, no need. Wirnan's
just fine in _that_ department." Because he wasn't touching her and
keeping his promise. That was just fine by her!

"Trust me, I don't want to know the intimate details between you two,
but I know he was upset when...well nevermind. I just wanted to make
sure he was treating you right." Dwidara nodded her head and looked out
at them. "What do you say we go join the men and boys for a bit of fun?"

"He's treating me very well." Especially considering the
circumstances. To be honest, it made Kaya feel bad - not that she
hadn't felt bad the first night after she had done what she did. But
she wasn't going to give in. She'd made her choice, she had her plans,
and she was sticking to it. "He treats me better than other _men_
have." But they weren't real men. She couldn't look upon them like
that.

Dwidara paused and looked over at Kaya carefully. "I, um, see." She was
innately curious about what Kaya was referring to, but she definitely
had her suspicious. Perhaps the girl really _had_ trapped Wirnan into
this marriage because she'd already given herself to some other man.
Dwidara had to look away for a moment, lest the other woman detect the
emotions on her face. Perhaps she'd best talk to her brother again, not
that it would change anything, but maybe he needed to keep a closer eye
on her in case she was a bit of a wandering. It was bad enough he'd
been dragged into this scandal, she'd hate to see another one pop up
because his wife had wandered into someone else's arms.
