Characters: T'bel, Miranek
Description: T'bel brings rare herbs to the Masterhealer of Emerald Falls Hold
Location: Emerald Falls Hold
Date: month 2, day 5 of Turn 6

The herbalist of the Weyr had said to be as kind as possible to his
small package, and deliver it to the Masterhealer as soon as he could.
So it was a fine afternoon that found T'bel wandering a bit lost on
the grounds of Emerald Falls Hold, looking for a man with the right
knots and shocking blue eyes...or at least that's what the description
Haley had given him. He floundered about a bit until some kind person
had directed him to go just past the toilets and across from the
crafter's workrooms. Finally, the aspirated greenrider found the
right door. Tapping gently, he waited for someone to say to come in.

"Come!" called the healer.

The greenrider poked his head around the door. "Sir? I come bearing
gifts." He came the rest of the way in, and held up his hand with the
package in it.

"Ahh, Greenrider," Miranek gestured him into his office. "Is that what I
think is is?"

"It is indeed." T'bel grinned and slid the package to the Healer.
"All the fancy herbs you hot weather people can't seem to grow here."

"I'm pleased that your healers remembered I had asked for some of these.
We've some of our own to send back in return." Miranek gestured to the
greenrider to sit. "It will take a few moments to get them brought up, sit,
rest for a time."

"Oh Journeywoman Haley's a good girl. If you ask for something,
she'll remember, and more." Shards knew it, on those rare times that
he did get injured in Fall--or even in Flight--Haley was the go-to
person for T'bel. The short man slid into the seat that had been
offered, mopping his brow. "Shards, it's hot here. Would it to much
to ask for a cup of klah?" He'd been on transport duty all morning; a
cup would be lovely.

"I can organize that, I'll have a platter of refreshments sent up." Miranek
rose and slipped out of the door for a moment to ask an apprentice to get
some things sent. "I've a return package for the Journeywoman. One that the
ladies of the Weyr will appreciate."

"Oh, I wouldn't know anything about_that_." T'bel gave the Healer a
cheeky wink. "Whow, this heat, how do you folks stand it?"

"It takes a while to adjust. But I suspect I'd think your Weyr a cold and
icy place in the winter months."

"Only in the winter months?" T'bel teased.

"Well I hear that you have ways of staying warm, mainly involving visiting
the beach." Miranek kept his face straight. He'd visited Weyrs as part of
his training and on occasions when there was need of his specialty.

"Yes, well, we'd hate for all those lovely beaches to go undiscovered
and all. Only doing our bit for Pern, y'know."

"And your work is well appreciated. I've seen threadscore, and I can only
imagine what it would do to the plants and grasses."

T'bel laughed at that. "I was teasing you." He grinned and started
wondering where that cup of klah was.

The klah and refreshments arrived before Miranek could respond. "Enjoy,"
Miranek said as they were served. "We'll have those herbs ready for you in
around half a candlemark."

"Ah, nothing like a nice cup of klah to refresh you." T'bel took the
offered cup and had a sip. Even as hot as he felt, it still was nice.
He was a bit too tired at the moment to want any of the food on the
tray, but maybe in a few moments he'd feel better.

}:We have been doing a lot of transport duty lately,:{ Fanth reminded
him. She didn't like to have her lifemate so run down.

"Relax for a few moments," Miranek said. "That's a prescription from the
healer."

"Great." T'bel sat back and did just that.

It seemed mere moments before there was a knock at the door. "Master
Miranek," called out an apprentice. "I have those herbs you requested."
Miranek gestured the youngster in, who left the package on the table.

"Yours to take back to the Weyr, I believe."

"Ha! I think I'd be killed if I didn't." T'bel put the empty cup
back on the table and took a sweet to take with him. Nodding to
Miranek, he said, "I'll leave you to it..is there anything I can ask
Haley for that you might need?"

"Not at the moment, but I'm sure she knows where we are, just as I know
where she is." He rose and held out his hand, "My duty to your green."

T'bel took his in his own. "And my duty to your Lord." At that he
walked out, hoping by the egg he could remember where he put Fanth!
