Description: Wirnan wakes up to find Kaya in his arms.
Location: Amber Hills Hold
Date: month 1, day 24 of Turn 6
He snuggled down deeper into the comfort of the soft mattress, breathing in
the scent of his sheets. No, that wasn't right. That scent that filled his
nostrils was one he knew and knew quite well, but it was not his sheets.
Still half asleep, Wirnan breathed in that scent. He felt so good for the
first time in so long, he didn't want to move. His arms were warm, his whole
body was warm and comfortable.
As he opened his eyes, and found himself looking into a head of hair, he
nearly balked. Thankfully, he manged to calm himself before he jarred her
awake. **Shards, you just told her you wouldn't touch her and look what
you've done!** He chided himself. His arms were around her, their bodies
pressed closely together. **Get out of bed before she wakes up! Yes, that's
what you need to do!** He tried to slide his arm out from under her, but he
found her head was resting on it.
Wirnan, who was now very much awake was trying to breathe evenly and slowly
lest he wake her in his panic. He had slept so well, but he'd gone back on
his promise to her. He couldn't let her know that, not now, not after they'd
build up some small ounce of trust between them. He tried to shift his arm
again, only to wince at the pressure her head was causing. What was he going
to do now?
Perhaps it was the dawning of the day, or the movement, however small,
Wirnan had made. Whatever it was, Kaya stirred, though not enough to get
off of the arm. In fact if anything, she stirred closer to Wirnan, pressing
against him. The warmth of his body called to her even through the sleep
induced haze that was so close to breaking, but not quite forming into the
reality of waking.
Shards what was he going to do now? Maybe he could pretend to still be
asleep. Yes, maybe that was the answer. He clearly couldn't get away, so if
she woke and thought him still asleep maybe she wouldn't fault him for
breaking the promise he'd made. Closing his eyes and trying to breath deeply
as though to feign sleep, Wirnan waited. It was not an easy task and he
doubted it would even work, but what other choice did he have? Wake her up
and tell her he was sorry? He _wasn't_ sorry, as she felt good in his arms,
but if she knew that then the tentative moments of peace they had might
vanish once again.
So warm. So cozy. Slowly the mist of sleep began to slip away. Slowly.
But Kaya was still halfway under slumber when she turned over, eyes still
closed when she pressed against the warmth that was beside her, her arm
flopping over his. So comfortable. The fact that there was a man beside
her didn't penetrate her consciousness, , though her body responded to the
closeness with a mind of its own. Ristin....she was half dreaming, thoughts
to a former time, to another man whom she had actually loved...Ristin...
His eyes darted open the moment she turned into him. His heart rate
quickening his body reacting. He _had_ to get up before he really _did_
break his promise to her. Wirnan allowed himself another moment to gaze upon
her sleeping face, so peaceful and beautiful as she slept. He wanted to
taste those lips that were parted ever so slightly in sleep...He _couldn't_
wait any longer or she'd awake to fine more than just part of him awake and
ready.
As gently as he could he tried to lift her head and slip from the bed.
Kaya was not so deeply asleep that she wasn't stirred by the movement of
Wirnan attempting to extract himself. Her eyes open as his arm was halfway
out from beneath her head and she blinked. Then she sat up suddenly and
scooted back over to the furthest side of her bed.
Shard it, she'd woken up! He stared at her in silence for as long as she
stared at him. "I swear, I didn't touch you. Not on purpose. I was asleep
and....shards," he tried to crouch slightly, to hide what he knew _had_ to
be visible to her if she only looked.
For a moment, anger welled up in Kaya. But then it deflated when she saw
the sincerity in her eyes and she sighed. She didn't say anything, not a
word, merely swung her legs over the bed and went to her trunk. She
rummaged around in it and pulled out one of her every day dresses, then
hurried into the bathing chamber and closed the door behind her.
He heaved a great sigh of relief. She hadn't yelled or screamed or accused
him of doing something against his word. Yet he looked skeptically towards
the door, she hadn't _said_ anything either. Deciding it was best if he got
out of the room as quickly as possible before she returned, he stood and
made his way out into the main rooms where he quickly readied himself for
the day.
