Description: Corowal brings his son to Amber Hills to be fostered
Location: Amber Hills Hold
Date: month 1, day 16 of Turn 6
Zathris stood outside, waiting for the arrival of the Lord of Emerald
falls, his lady, and the son or sons he had chosen to bring with him.
His eyes turned toward the sky, but the dragon was nowhere in sight.
No matter, there was still a little time left before the hour they had
set. He pulled his gaze away from the sky to let it settle upon his
wife. "This should be interesting." He murmured softly to her, one
hand placed gently against the small of her back.
Benani was slightly nervous as they stood there waiting. She cast a
smile up at her handsome husband. She'd never thought when they'd been
allowed to marry that he would become Lord at Amber Hills and now
another Lord of much longer tenure was going to entrust one of his
sons to their nurture. "Yes, I'm sure it will be" she said.
The dragon broke out of /between/ and Corofel let out a whoop of excitement.
At least he was enjoying the flight, while his father pulled the jacket
tighter against the chill. The dragon circled downwards. Although he had
been to Amber Hills before, Corowal found himself leaning over the dragon's
side to see the hold below. He pointed some of the landmarks her recognized
for Corofel.
There they were. Zathris motioned to the dragon in the sky, though
surely no one missed the great beast. "Here they come. Right on
time. Now, be on your best behaviour my dear. We do want to make a
good impression." There was no doubt that Zathris' words were not
serious at all, lovingly teasing his beautiful wife.
Benani smiled. "I will try very hard not to do anything unladylike in
front of Lord Corowal. Though I must say I do feel like kissing you in
front of him." She wondered how the other Lord would take that kind of
public exhibition and just the thought had a giggle bubbling up and
very difficult to stifle.
Felyna sat behind Corofel, enjoying his whooping and the ride itself.
She did enjoy riding dragonback. She was also unbelievably excited
that they were actually going to foster one of the boys. To Felyna,
it was one step closer to getting her home to herself, without a
foster mother. Besides which, Corofel really did need the experience
fostering would give him, and Zathris and his Lady seemed quite able
and capable to handle the boy and any scrapes he would get into away
from home.
She grinned as they landed, unable to contain her joy. "Its
wonderful." She said quietly, sure that no one had heard her, and
meaning the view from a a dragon's back.
Benani waved as she saw who all was on the dragon's back "Oh Felyna
came too" she smiled her own pleasure at receiving them all in her
home.
"Welcome back, Lord Corowal, Lady Felyna, to Amber Hills." Zathris
greeted them both warmly after they dismounted from the dragon and
drew closer. He held his hand out to shake Corowal's, then kiss
Felyna's. Then his eyes turned to the child they brought with them.
"And young Corofel, you too are most welcome."
Benani smiled as they came toward them offering her hand and a curtsy
to Corowal and reaching out to embrace Felyna. She smiled warmly at
the boy standing next to his father. "Quite the young man you are
Corofel," she added warmly.
"Thank you, M'lady," Corofel gave her a bow, looking at her curiously. He
wasn't shy at all. "Lord Zathris," he bowed to the Amber Hills' Lord too.
Corowal had to admit he was proud of the boy's good manners.
"Tis always a pleasure to come here. How's the summer started?" he replied
to Zathris.
Felyna greeted Benani warmly as well, smiling at her fellow Lady Holder.
She almost wished the two of them could go off and have a good chat and
leave this to the men, and Corofel. But she knew she was expected to
stay, so she joined in the conversation easily. "Indeed, and always nice to
have an excuse to ride a dragon." Her eyes twinkled at that comment, and as
she watched Corofel. He seemed to be on his best behavior!
Corofel was looking curiously around. Besides Coral Bay where he had been
born and Emerald Falls hold, this was first hold he ever visited. "Yeah, the
dragon ride was great," he said euthiastically.
"I'm glad you had a good flight. Come, let's go inside and partake of
some refreshments." Zathris motioned for his guests to follow him,
then slid his arm around Benani's shoulders, letting it rest lightly
there as they walked.
Corowal gave his arm to his wife while Corofel trailed around them.
"You should keep a keen eye on the boy, he's a prankster," Corowal
warned Zathris with low voice, but there was merry glint in his eyes.
Corofel took after him.
Benani glided into the hall with her own arm around her husband and
waived the other hand at the line of household staff that waited to
attend them. Some ran off immediately to the dragon waiting outside to
retrieve the luggage. Others waited until they'd passed before
scurrying off back to their duties. They entered a salon where a
light meal was laid out on the sideboard.
"I'll be very sure to do so." Zathris chuckled softly. A prankster?
Well, he'd keep an eye on the boy. There was nothing wrong with
having a little fun now and then, as long as it was appropriate.
"Come, let's eat." He motioned to chairs set out and ready to receive
the visitors. "After we eat, we can show Corofel to his new quarters.
"Good. Oh, And happy birthday Zathris," Corowal said and pulled a
small packet from his belt pouch.
Now that was indeed a surprise and Zathris' expression could not hide
it. "Well now, Corowal, that's very thoughtful of you." He accepted
the packet with a bow. "I do hope you didn't go to too much trouble.
"And I hope you also had a happy birthday Felyna," said Benani. She'd
sent off a greeting and a small gift before turns end so it would
reach her before her birthday on the first of the month.
Felyna smiled warmly at Benani and nodded. "Thank you very much for
your gift, Benani. I was very pleased you remembered." Her smile
warmed a bit more. "And yes, it was a lovely day. My husband takes
excellent care of me."
"As mine does of me." She sent a very private glowing look toward her
husband.
