He'd already tried scrubbing it off once, only to have the water turn a
sickening shade of blue once again. Wirnan had hoped out of the water before
it could do more harm than good. Now that the water had cleared again, he
stepped into it once more. Grabbing the sweetsand he realized he should have
had the girl bring the whole blasted thing. The little work he'd done on
trying to scrub the dye away was not nearly enough progress. How was he
going to show his face around the hold if he was _blue_!
Sounds out in the main living room made he pause. Had Kaya returned or had
Lyranel let herself back in? "Kaya?" He called out.
Kaya paused as she entered the quarters and sighed. She had gotten the
laundry, a memory of a meeting she had with him before everything had
happened coming to mind. Only that bag hadn't contained laundry, but some
much needed supplies. Even though it was not the best of situations, Kaya
wasn't going to shirk on doing at least _part_ of what she was supposed to.
Maybe they weren't husband and wife fully but...well, the least she could
do was the laundry and keep things clean. Just til she left.
He was calling her and it sounded past the bedroom, probably from the
bathing room. Kaya didn't answer, but simply slipped into the bedroom. She
didn't think that he'd call her without being dressed until she stepped
through the door took a couple of paces inside and then came to a dead stop
when she saw the man reclining in the bathtub. Her eyes widened. There
wasn't much to see, the tub hid the intimate parts, but it was obvious that
he was naked, his chest and face and arms visible. That alone would have
given her quite a bit of pause. It would have normally made her look away.
Except that he was blue. Very, very blue. So all Kaya could do for a
minute was just stare.
He looked up at her and actually sighed with relief. "Good, I'm glad it's
you and not the incompetent girl who was here before. Can you believe she
put dye, yes _dye_ in my sweetsand!" He was so riled up he didn't even
consider the situation. "You've got to help me. I cannot get this blasted
stuff off of me!"
"Dye?" Kaya swallowed. Yes, obviously, that had to be why he was
so...so...blue. Literally. But he wanted her to _help_ him. "What...what
do you want me to do?" The girl managed to take a step forward, the top of
a bent knee coming into sight and there she hesitated again.
"I...I don't know!" He remarked, his hands making a splash in the water as
his frustration was getting the better of him. "I've been at this for quite
some time and it doesn't seem to be _doing_ anything! Is my back blue as
well? I can't even see it!"
"Yes. Yes it is." Kaya was getting over the shock of seeing the man both
naked and blue. And now, the rediculousness of the situation dawned upon
her. It started as a little ripple in her tummy, the bubbled up all the way
to her lips where it escaped in the form of a giggle. "Very...very blue.
Like...like a blueberry!" And that only made her giggle again.
His mouth dropped open at the audacity of her to laugh at him in this
situation, but it didn't take long for his anger to be replaced by a hint of
amusement. "A blueberry! Well then what does that make you? Eh? You're
married to a blueberry!" His eyes actually lit up a bit, perhaps for the
first time in days.
"Shard it, the water's all blue again. I'd best get out and let it clear
itself else again! Turn around," he said as he reached for his towel.
"A blueberry's wife. I guess there are worse things." Kaya couldn't help
it. The giggles weren't coming faster and faster. Soon, she was holding her
hand over her stomach and she was unable to shut off the sound. She turned
around but by that time, the giggles had turned into full out laughter. "I
wish you could see yourself!"
"I can see enough of myself to know I look rather...um....blue." He'd draped
the towel around him and watched as the water started to cycle through
again. He knew it would take a few minutes before it was clear. "You can
turn around now," he told her. "It will be a few minutes before the water is
clear again." Out of the water he _did_ look like a giant blueberry, his
arms, his legs and all the way up to his neck was blue. "At least my face
isn't blue," he grumbled, snorting at her laughter.
Kaya did turn around, giggling all the way. She stopped though when she saw
him, that towel the only thing hiding his intimates. Her hand lowered from
her mouth and for a moment she let her gaze drift over his form. His chest,
his arm, the line of his hip where it met the towel. His blue skin...that
thought started her giggling again. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry, you're just
so...it's so funny!" She moved a little closer, checking on the water.
"Maybe if you scrubbed harder."
"I _have_ scrubbed hard!" He retorted, trying to hide his amusement at _her_
amusement. "I'll be lucky if I have any skin left by the time I'm done. How
do the weavers remove dye from their threads? There _has_ to be a way!" He
watched as the water started to circle back clear through the bathing pool.
"I don't know." Kaya was trying so hard not to laugh that it caused her
words to ripple when she spoke. She leaned over to reach into the water and
feel the heat of it. "This is barely warm. Warmer water might help." She
adjusted the water to get it warmer, letting some of it out so the tub so it
didn't overflow. Her skirt brushed against his leg as she leaned and took
the cloth and sweet sand. She ran them under the water, worked up a good
lather, then turned to apply it to his arm. "Let me see if I can do any
good."
He held his arm out to her, not sure that _anything_ would help at this
point. How was he to go about his duties when he looked like...well...like a
giant blueberry? "Give it your best shot," he said.
Kaya began to scrub and quite firmly too. She attacked that blue with
circular strokes, hard against his skin, though careful not to go _too_
hard. "It seems to be working. Perhaps I have a better angle." She paused
a moment to examine her work, then move around to his back, those powerful,
circular strokes drawing the blue from his skin, though it certainly took a
good deal of effort. "This reminds me of scrubbing my nieces and nephews.
Ai yai, they were a messy bunch. I had to constantly get caked mud off of
their skin and out of their hair."
She did a preliminary layer on his back then attacked his other arm. His skin was cool from standing out while wet
and the touch of her hand against him sent bumps along her arm, but she tried her best to ignore them. "I swear, I never realised it was so hard to get mud off of someone's skin until they were old enough to show me. I'd have to bathe them two or three times." Second arm down, she moved around to work on his chest...and tried hard not to think about how close she was to him. She drew in a breath and tried to think about scrubbing and getting that blue and not notice...not notice _him_. "And..." She half whispered, "It happened often..."
He cringed a bit as she scrubbed, rather forcefully at his skin. It actually
hurt it was so rough! Wirnan tried hard not to let it show on his face, but
he knew he winced a few times at her treatment. Her stories, however, did
help distract him from how much his flesh was burning after she'd nearly
scrubbed his skin off.
And then she was standing in front of him. He could feel her breath on his
chest and his skin tingled from the sensation. "It did, did it?" he asked,
his voice deepening as he thought of some other things that he'd like to see
happen and happen often. Before he could stop himself and perhaps because he
didn't _want_ to stop himself, Wirnan had titled her head up and lowered his
own to hers. His lips met hers for what he considered their first _real_
kiss, the first one _he_ started.
Kaya's breath quickened at the feel of his lips against hers, cool as his
skin. Her chest heaved and she dropped the cloth, letting it splatter onto
the floor while her hands pressed against his chest. She had intended to
push him away, to get him off of her, but the touch of his skin beneath
hers, cool and slick, seemed to make her pause. Her mouth opened and for a
moment she forgot herself and allowed it to linger, allowed it to simmer,
her mouth working against his own almost against her own will.
He deepened the kiss. His own heart rate quickening as his hands moved up to
her arms, holding her to him. When her mouth opened his tongue swept inside.
Oh, he wanted her. Had wanted her almost from the moment he'd met her. She
_could_ be his. She _was_ his. His body was reacting to her, to her kiss, to
her nearness. He didn't want to stop, but his mind was warring with his
body. He wanted her, very much, but there was still so much between them
that needed resolved. Wirnan pulled back to catch his breath and to try and
rationalize his reactions. Of course, considering where they were and that
he was still rather wet from his last soaking in the tub, the sudden movement
caused him to lose his balance and slip into the waters of the tub with a
splash.
When he pulled away, she looked up at him. She was about to jerk out of his
arms, but then he slipped and together they fell, tumbling into the tub.
That breathlessness that had her gasping was filled with water that flowed
into her mouth and assaulted her lungs. Her arms and legs flung and
thrashed as she desperately tried to get her head above the shallow pool and
get some air.
Her thrashing caused him to swallow more water than he would have otherwise.
Coughing and sputtering he tried to still her movements, but then some part
of her connected with a rather important part of him. "Shards," he all but
shouting, tears of pain actually springing to his eyes. He swallowed another
mouthful of water as he tried to gasp past the agony he felt from her nearly
unmanning him.
Kaya finally managed to grab a hold of the side of the tub and haul herself
up. Sputtering and coughing, she spasmed from the water she had swallowed.
Surely she swallowed enough to fill ten tubs. She sat up on the floor,
still coughing. Who knew a tub could be so dangerous?
Wirnan managed to sit up enough to keep his head out of the water, though
his knees were pulled up to his chest as he tried to wait out to agony that
seemed to be coursing through his body. It did _not_ help that just moments
before he'd held a beautiful woman in his arms. Closing his eyes and taking
deep shallow breaths, he tried not to cry like a baby, but shards it _hurt_!
"Wirnan?" His name came out in a squeak as Kaya still attempted to replace
water with air and she crawled a little closer to the man. Some of the blue
had come off with her scrubbing and their dunk had rinsed it away. At least
she'd done some good in that department. "Are...are you all right?" She
croaked.
"I'm fine," he tried to answer. His voice sounding rather high pitched to
his own ears. Hopefully the pulsing pain would lessen soon enough. "You have
good aim," he manged, wincing as he shifted in the tub.
"Aim?" That did nothing but confuse Kaya and she shifted a little closer.
She was soaking, but so was he. Except, he didn't have any clothes on.
The towel had fallen away and...and...Kaya stared. Looking down into the
water, it distorted his form but only a little. She could see him quite
clearly. Pink darted into her cheeks but she couldn't look away. It
was...it was his...and...it was blue....
He saw the path her eyes had taken and couldn't help but smile, even though
it still ached quite a bit. "Aye, aim. That very thing you seem
rather...interested in. I'll be lucky if I can stand after the blow you gave
it." Then out of the blue, he started laughing. The entire situation was
downright hysterical and it was as though all the pieces were finally
clicking into to place. Wirnan laughed and couldn't stop.
Kaya swallowed and backed away. She was amused, but more she was
embarrassed. She'd seen him unclothed. Even worse...she could feel her
body reacting to it, blue and all. She had a great desire to reach out and
caress, gently, to soothe the pain she had accidently caused, to ignite a
different sort of flame. To have him...
She shook her head. He was laughing now, but she wasn't. No. This
couldn't be right. She pushed herself to her feet and hurried out into the
other room, a trail of dripping water following her. It had just been too
long since she'd been aroused. With Ristin it had been so easy. Too easy.
And so hard to hold back. But here, she was a man's wife. She didn't have
to hold back. But she didn't love him. And he didn't love her. So it
wasn't right. So why in Pern was she reacting that way?
