Description: U'das learns he's not as memorable as he thought...
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 13, day 29 of Turn 5
Honalyse snagged a finger around her bust line and gave it a tug. The
weaver really had botched that job! The amount of cleavage showing
wouldn't even make a holder blush! That was her best asset! Was he
really so rushed that he couldn't trim just a bit more off?
U'das watched her across the crowd. He had not forgotten the embarrasing
encounter in her weyr, but he had to prove himself something. Like that
he didn't let a drunken greenrider just drive him away. He weaved his
way through the thong. "Can I have this dance?" he asked with a bow. In
his eyes, her bust looked just fine.
"Wingleader U'das," Honalyse said with a genuinely surprised look on her
face. "Well, I haven't seen you around much. You haven't been avoiding
me, have you?"
"No, I haven't. I haven't seeking you out either," he shrugged a bit.
"On the otherhand, the only people I have seeked out was those who's
evaluations I wanted to do. End of the Turn is always busy time."
"Oh, is that it? I suppose that would keep you a bit busy." She of
course had an evaluation of her own, but it hadn't really occurred to
her just how many he would have had to have done. "When was the last
time I saw you..." she said, scrunching her forehead as she tried to
remember.
"In your weyr, I believe," U'das said. **And she doesn't even remember
it? Now, that takes your ego down a notch!**
"_My_ weyr?" she asked in disbelief. "Are you sure about that?"
"You were drunk," U'das said like it explained everything and perhaps it
did.
"Wait..." An image was coming though now. "Did you bring me flowers?"
"I might have," U'das grinned.
"I was wondering where those came from," she said, as if she had finally
solved a great mystery. "I have a vague memory of you standing with
flowers in your hand. Now it all makes sense. You see, I had a bit
much to drink that day."
"Yes, I noticed that," U'das said with dry tone. "Well, about that
dance?"
"Oh, yes. Um... Sure," she said with a shrug, figuring she hadn't any
better offers at the moment.
"Shall we, then?" He hold out his arm for her.
She took the offered arm. "So why did you bring me flowers?"
"Oh, I think I wanted to apologize something," U'das said and swirled
her into dancing position.
"Huh. What were you apologizing for?" she asked curiously as she put
her hand on his shoulder.
"I can't remember any longer. S'pose I felt I had hurt you someway,"
U'das said and let the music carry them along.
That wouldn't surprise her. He always seemed to take pleasure in her
discomfort. "I didn't say anything stupid, did I?"
"Naah, just some wing gossip," U'das said. He was honest man, but
sometimes little white lie saved you from lot of grief. If she didn't
remember it, he was not about to remind her.
"Well, I know plenty of wing gossip, and when I'm drunk I tend to talk a
lot," she said, knowing full well just how much of a handful she could
be. "I even scared a man away once, apparently."
"Really, how did that happen?" U'das had hard time controlling his face.
For some reason he wanted to laugh.
"I have no idea," Honalyse shrugged innocently. "Whiskey does that to
me. I never remember anything that happens the next day."
"Fancy that," he couldn't not resist a grin.
Honalyse's eyes narrowed slightly. "Are you thinking of finding me a
bottle of whiskey so you can bed me without my remembering?" she asked
suspiciously.
"Now, what fun that would be? I rather like my partners actually
remembering me afterwards," U'das said.
"No one likes to be forgettable," Honalyse agreed, knowing more than one
man had seemed to 'forget' her after bedding her.
"You're right at that," he agreed and swirled her with the music.
