Wirnan

Wirnan

The messages had been sent, she had managed to sneak out, and all Kaya
had to do was wait. A rather gullible drudge had been instrumental in
acquiring access to Wirnan's quarters and she had slipped in there,
disrobed and cast her own clothing haphazardly about the room. At the
thought of what she was doing, her face burned, but she continued
forward. Wirnan was the reason she plans for escape were scattered into
ruin. So, he was going to help her out.

From his clothing she chose a tunic, long enough to cover her
most...intimate parts...but short enough to reveal her silky legs. The ties
were left loose, a generous amount of cleavage peeking between the folds.
She pulled her hair out of its braid and let it tumble over her shoulders,
then tousled it to make it look as if she had been engaged in some sort of
activity. Shen she lowered herself upon the couch, hip resting in the
corner, legs out stretched, and tunic placed just so that there was a lot to
look at and a lot more offered beneath. Her eyes turned toward the door. S
he had made the message sound important so that he would come quickly. The
other...well, the timing should be just about right unless something strange
happened with her father. Yes, Wirnan would help her. Whether he liked it
or not.

Wirnan frowned as he approached his own quarters. The note had indicated
that it was a matter of grave importance. Someone needed to meet him
immediately regarding something of great importance. He couldn't imagine who
had sent it without a name or why they had chosen his quarters as the
meeting place, but Wirnan was too concerned by the tone of the note to
ignore it. He looked around as he approached and seeing no one waiting for
him, decided it would be best if he entered and waiting for them to come to
him.

Slipping his key from his pocket, Wirnan opened the door. He wasn't really
looking ahead when he entered, lost in his own thoughts, but when he caught
a flick of movement out of the corner of his eye, he started. Then he
stared.

For a few moments, he simply stood there, staring, dumbfounded. "K..Kaya?"
He asked, not believing what he was seeing. "How...? What? Is that my
shirt?"

"Hello Wirnan." Kaya's face was still bright but she kept her eyes upon the
man and hoped he would attribute it more to excitement rather than
embarrassment. One hand played idly with the back of the couch as she
watched him, scrutinizing his expression. "Yes. It is your shirt. And
it's a very comfortable shirt." Now if she could just play this off...he'd
be there any minute.

"But, what? How?" He stared dumbfounded. "Cover yourself up!" He finally
declared a bit roughly. moving away from the door to find something to throw
over her. He was sputtering and cursing under his breath. "You shouldn't be
here." Of course, in his distress, Wirnan had not shut the door behind him,
leaving the scene unfolding in the room visible to any who might dare pass
by.

Kaya glanced at the doorway and frowned. The door had been left open, a
lucky chance and she wouldn't have to worry about that, but...where was he?
He should have been there by now. She had to do something. Had to keep
Wirnan occupied. She pushed herself to her feet, the shirt falling to mid
thigh and moved over to encircle her arms around him from behind. "You
obviously didn't want me to leave. I thought that maybe you wanted
something a bit more." She tried to deepen her voice, try to make it sound
sultry. She hoped she was doing it properly.

Wirnan was stunned silent. He reached his hands up and tugged her arms free,
turning to face her directly. His eyes were blazing. Whether it was anger or
something else had yet to be determined. "_What_ are you doing?" He hissed.
"Get some clothes on _now_, before someone sees you like this and thinks..."
he stumbled for words, "thinks something happened!" He was actually scanning
the room, wondering what he could throw over her so _he_ could stop being
distracted by the sight of those silky thighs peeking out from beneath _his_
shirt, that looked so much more appealing on her than it ever had on him.

"Don't you want me, Wirnan?" Kaya dropped her voice into a purr and she
didn't let Wirnan's peeling her off deter her. She closed the gap that had
been made and pressed up against him. She tilted her head back and drew
close to him and breathed, "I thought you wanted me..." There was a flash
of movement out of the corner of her eye and, without wasting another
minute, Kaya reached up to pull Wirnan down into a kiss, mouth warm and
tantalizing against his own.

This did _not_ seem like the same girl...er...woman, that he had gotten to
know over the past few days. His senses were awhirl and it was hard to
think rationally in this situation. And _then_ she grabbed him and pressed
her lips to his. He did try and pull away at first. His mind battled with
his body in that moment. He wouldn't do this to her, but _she_ had started
this. He tried to fight it, but in the end it _was_ only a kiss. Wirnan let
it linger perhaps a bit longer than he should have before he pulled back,
his eyes looking into hers full of questions, feelings, doubts, and desires.

"YOU!" The voice cracked through the air like a whip. At the door stood
Yarovan, Kaya's father. But he wasn't alone. The young holder heir was
with him and a couple of other people, most likely people of Yarvoan and his
companion stood in the doorway, staring at the two. Kaya fairly jumped
back, eyes wide, though she was by no means surprised.

"You! You dare touch my daughter! To soil her!" Yarovan stomped inside.
He paused to pick up the outer dress Kaya had shed and thrust it at her.
"GET DRESSED."

She quickly ran off, gathering the rest of her clothes and hid in Wirnan's
bedroom to do just that. It had worked. Was working! She bit her lip as
she hurriedly scrambled into her clothing.

Yarovan watched as his daughter disappeared into the other room, then turned
back to Wirnan. "I knew it! I knew there was something going on between
you two! You have disgraced my daughter!" He closed the distance between
the man, hovering an inch or two over Wirnan in height and jabbed his finger
in the Steward's chest. "And now? Now what will she do, eh? What will she
do now that you have spoiled her?"

Wirnan's world turned upside down in a matter of seconds. One minute he'd
been staring into the lovely eyes of Kaya and the next he was caught in the
glare of her father.

"Sir, I did not. This is not what it seems." He glanced around, wishing Kaya
was beside him so she could tell him what _really_ happened. That he had
come home only to find her already undressed and waiting for him...no, wait,
that would not sound right either. He fumbled for words. "I didn't touch
your daughter, sir. I would _never_ do anything to spoil her reputation. I
swear on my father's grave." Wirnan was beside himself with worry over how
he could possibly rectify this situation. He knew how bad this had to look,
but these people _had_ to believe him. His own reputation was at stake.

"Not what it seems? Not what it SEEMS?" The finger that jabbed in Wirnan's
chest took a turn to jab at the door through which Kaya had gone. "You had
my half naked daughter in your arms, kissing her! Not what it seems! I
know EXACTLY what it seems!" Yarovan didn't believe him and he pressed
forward to force the steward back. "And now look what you have done!"

Kaya emerged from the room, fully dressed, cheeks aflame and hands coming
together. It was enough to turn her father's attention away from Wirnan and
to his daughter. He stomped over and grabbed Kaya by her arm, hard enough
to make her cry out in pain, then jerked her to the door only to toss her
into the arms of his two men who had accompanied him. "Take her to my
quarters. I'll deal with her shortly." There was no doubt whatever he did
with his daughter would be none too pleasant. Then he whirled upon Wirnan.
"And you. You will make this right! I shall speak to his Lordship about
this immediately!" Then without another word, Yarovan turned toward the
door.

He wanted to protest, to cry out to Kaya to tell them the truth, but Wirnan
knew that there was nothing he could do now. Even if Kaya could explain the
situation to her father, he realized now the man would likely never listen
to reason. And on top of that, people had _seen_ her in his arms, with
nothing but his shirt covering her. He heaved a heavy sigh as he watched
their backs retreating. He had to find Zathris and speak to him. Perhaps he
could reason with Yarovan, make things right somehow. Wirnan scrubbed his
face with his hands as he wondered exactly how anyone could make this right
now, but at the least he had to explain to his Lord that he had _not_
defiled that young lady. Wirnan had grown close to Zathris, but even still
he didn't know if he would be believed. All the evidence pointed to a truth
that was nothing but a lie. Closing his eyes on a groan, he sank down into a
chair and buried his face in his hands.
