A Vintner's Treasure Part II

Writers: Danielle, Eimi, Elaine
Date Posted: 7th December 2005

Characters: Catriana, Rialine, Daigoro
Description: Catriana and Rialine show their discovery to Daigoro
Location: Vintner Hall
Date: month 9, day 1 of Turn 3
Notes: Follows "A Vintner's Treasure"

The two girls stood outside the Hall Second's office. Rialine for one, was a bit nervous. Although they had quite a find on their hands, she was worried people may question why they were exploring **We got lost, thats simple** or worse, why had they opened a locked room
**Maybe no one will notice that** she thought.

"Well?" Rialine said turning to Catriana. "We knock?"

"I don't think Daigoro will bite..." Catriana knocked gently on his door.

"Come in!" Daigoro called from within.

Rialine looked once at Catriana before going inside. "Good afternoon daigoro."

The Hallsecond looked up from his hidework and smiled at the two young women. "Ah, Catriana. And Rialine, isn't it? Talrian's daughtger?"

"Yes," Rialine nodded, then nervously offered the bottle in her hand.
"We, found something daigoro." She paused before continuing. "We got a little lost, and found these. We can't decipher the label."

"You _found_ a bottle? Where did you find it?" he asked as he took it in hand to inspect it.

"Down by the cellars- it looked like some old lower wing that hasn't been used in some time. There were more bottles. The room looked like an old apprentice barracks." Catriana explained.

"Well, I'll be Hatched of a wherry..." Daigoro whispered as he wiped the label clean.

"When do you suppose it's from?" Catriana asked, peering at the label.

"Since before the craftban. Nuzela," he pointed to a name on the faded paper, "was a female Master Crafter. This is a rare vintage."

"Oh..." Catriana breathed in surprise. A female crafter! And a Master at that!

"Wow!" Rialine said. "Thats gotta be, how many turns ago?"

"Oh, roughly seventy-five, from the labeled vintage date," he said with a look of appreciation. "It being made by a woman master crafter I could see why Fielton would not be happy to display it prominently, but even _he_ would recognize its value..." he muttered to himself.

"Seventy-five! Why...either the wine has aged and is exquisite or it's completely dead and ruined." Which would be tragic if it were the latter...

"Which is the chance any serious wine collector would take," the Hallsecond replied as he lifted the bottle to the light. "The cork wrapping seems undisturbed and I don't _see_ any sediment in it. If I were a collector, this would be a good gamble."

Catriana looked back and forth between Rialine and Daigoro. "So, what should we do? There were several more bottles down there, and who knows what else we could find with a thorough search...but why? Why would someone hide this away?"

"There were footprints sir," Rialine added, realizing they hadn't mentioned that. "Someone else has been that way recently. Thats why we thought it may have been the right way, when we got lost."

"Well, I think you ladies better show me where this came from," the Hallmaster said as he stood and walked towards the door. "If you ladies would lead the way."
