"Where is she!?" The voice was a growl and a man surged forward and came
right into Wirnan's face. He wasn't much taller than the steward, but he
was bulkier, a man who had worked long and hard in the fields and with
livestock. His skin was of a medium creamy brown and his eyes and hair
dark. A thick moustache dusted over his lip, adding to the sinister look he
gave Wirnan as a finger jabbed into the Steward's chest. "She was last seen
with you. Where is she? What did you do with her?"

"What?" Wirnan stepped back and blinked at the man in confusion for a
moment. He knew this was Kaya's father, though he'd hardly dealt with the
man, even with all the time he'd spent with Kaya. "I took her to her rooms
last eve after the meal. That was the last time I saw Kaya. Why? Where has
she gone?" He was genuinely confused by what was going on here.

"Why do you ask? She was last seen with you! She wasn't in her bed this
morning, it wasn't even slept in." Yavoran didn't allow for much room to be
established. As soon as Wirnan stepped away, he stepped right into the
space created. "She's run off and I had assumed with you. Since you were
the last one to see her...did she say anything? Did you tell her anything?
What did you say to her? Did you _touch_ my daughter?"

Wirnan stood with his mouth gaping for only a moment, before his eyes
flashed and he stood tall and straight. "No, sir!" He remarked firmly. "I
would _never_ do such a thing and you would know that." His thoughts
immediately flashed to Kaya. "Are you _certain_ she's run off? Perhaps she's
just hiding somewhere. I would be more than happy to assist you in searching
the Hold for her." He was not about to let this man intimidate him. He'd
been _very_ careful to make sure that he handled all of his dealings with
Kaya with the utmost respect. He would never do anything to harm her or to
soil her reputation.

"I would expect nothing less! The girl's run off, for some reason or
another!" Yavoran didn't look like he believed the Steward, even if the man
denied that he had touched his daughter. They had been spending a lot of
time together. Going on rides, walking the halls. He had escorted her
various places. How many of those places were out of sight of the rest of
the hold. Had she run off because Wirnan had been inappropriate. The man
growled. "I've already got some of my men searching, but you would know the
hold better."

Wirnan knew her father did not believe him, but right now his focus _had_ to
be on finding Kaya. "You think she's run off? You're certain she left of her
own choice?" His thoughts immediately turned to other scenarios. Had she
gone for a walk and fallen? Was she hurt? Had something more untoward
happened? He could feel his heart pounding. He did care about Kaya and he
did not want something to have happened to her.

"Look," he turned back to her father. "I'll assemble the guard and get a
search team going immediately. We'll search every nook and cranny until we
find her. I can _assure_ you of that!"

"Nay, I don't know! All I know is that her bed wasn't slept in and you were
the last to see her!" Yarovan threw his hands in the air and gesticulated
wildly. "Her dresses were still in their drawers. She's just gone. Gone!
And you were with her last. What can I think but that you've done
something to her!"

"Alright, please calm down," Wirnan turned towards one of the men beside him
and sent the man to find Lord Zathris, for Wirnan was beginning to think he
would need the support before Yarovan turned on him and truly started
blaming him for something that did not happen. A crowd was already gathering
to witness the spectacle. Wirnan was itching to go start searching, but he
knew he couldn't leave Kaya's father alone, ranting and raving in the midst
of the Hold residents without someone to try and calm him down.

Zathris was there as quickly as he could be. The hullaballoo could be heard
down the hallway and his frown deepened. Yarovan had at least set about to
pacing back and forth, throwing up his hands still, but his yelling was more
a general thing rather than just at Wirnan. "Steward...there's a problem."
Definitely not a question, a statement as it was obvious there was a
problem.

Wirnan had to work hard to contain the snort that went with Zathris'
comment. "Aye, my lord. Yarovan's daughter, Kaya, seems to have disappeared.
I would like to organize the search for her," he looked to his lord holder
with a gaze that spoke volumes. "I was with the young lady last evening and
saw her safely to her quarters, but apparently, she is now nowhere to be
found."

Zathris turned his gaze to the man in question, both eyebrows shooting up.
"Holder Yarovan, rest assured we will expend every effort to find your
daughter." Things just got a lot more serious. "Organise a search at once.
Get all you need to scour the hold and surrounding area. We need to find
her. Quickly." It wasn't safe for a person at night. Especially a woman.
They had some time til then, but Zathris knew searches sometimes took a
while.

Yarovan calmed at the Lord's holders, though his jaw was still tight.
Whether it was anger or worry was difficult to tell, but most might lean
more toward the anger at the sight of it. "Thank you my Lord." His voice
was tight and he motioned to his men. "We'll join the search."

Wirnan nodded, pleased that the man had _finally_ calmed down. He shot a
grateful look at Zathris before moving off to get things organized. They
_had_ to find her before something bad could happen.
