Wodi walked through the hallways back to his quarters. He had eaten
dinner and would meet his mother once she had finished cleaning the
kitchens and setting out the bread to rise for the next day. He had
made the trip so many times that he was thinking about other things,
rather than watching where he was going.
"There's the little pervert," Rosid whispered, eyes narrowing with hate.
He had told about the incident in the bath cambers to his cronies,
exaggarating it to sound even worse it had been. Add few stiff drinks
and they were ready show him that the hold didn't want people like Wodi.
Valar, his breath already vile, was even worse with the drink he'd
imbibed. He turned a beady eye in the direction Rosid indicated. His
lips curled into a sneer. He spat onto the ground at the sight of the
queer. "He should pay for what he did," Valar snarled, taking another
swig from the bottle they'd nearly finished and wiping his mouth with
his sleeve.
"Oh, yes," Rosid's eyes had a wicked gleam.
Sirgin grabbed the bottle out of Valar's hand and quickly drained the
rest. "Take him now, Rosid?"
"Yes," Rosid said and jumped out from behind the corner. He positioned
himself to block Wodi's path.
Wodi saw him and his first instinct was to run. Unfortunately, he ran
the wrong way since he bumped into Valar. With the adrenaline that ran
through his veins and the first option exhausted, he went into fight mode. **It's three against one** he admitted to himself, knowing it'd be futile,
but maybe someone would come. "Help! Somebody!" he screamed, hoping someone else would be in the holders' quarters as he crouched down, prepared to scratch out anyone's' eyes that came close.
"No one's going to hear you!" Rosid smirked. With a few long strides, he
closed the gap between them and pushed the smaller lad hard against the
wall.
Wodi came up fighting. He wasn't stupid; he knew what could happen. He
went for Rosid's face, scratching it. **Maybe they'll think it isn't
worth it and leave me alone** He screamed again.
Valar had done his part. He'd trapped the little pervert and kept him
from getting away. He sneered into his face before Rosid came and took
control. Valar wanted to punch the fool for screaming like a girl.
"He even screams like a girl!" He stated his thoughts aloud, moving to
stand beside Rosid. He wouldn't be responsible for letting their prey
get away so easily.
Bayley had been in a bad mood. Too much was happening and far too
quickly. He'd even snapped at Heidela which had started a fight and the
two had gone their separate ways, fuming. He'd go back and apologize...but
at the moment he was still too worked up.
The sound of a scream, however, shook him out of his fog and he frowned.
His feet picked up their pace and when he came around the corner, he
stopped as he saw several boys his age all ganging up against Wodi. What
were...well, it didn't take long for Bayley to figure out what they were doing and he froze, staring, wide eyed.
"Shut up," Rosid growled and his fist connected against Wodi's mouth.
The boy was knocked back and he spat out a small stream of blood. He had
bit the inside of his cheek. Real fear was in his eyes now, though he
tried valiantly to resist, even though. He went for Valar, then, knowing he
was the slow one. Wodi tried to bite him, hoping he could get past.
Sirgin sprang on him, ramming his shoulder squarely into his chest and
pushing him back against the wall. "Valar, grab his other arm! Hold
him down!"
Valar snarled when Wodi's teeth connected with his hand, scraping the
skin. He yanked the boy's other arm roughly as Sirgin shouted. Valar wanted
revenge for the bite so he kicked out and felt his foot connect with
Wodi's shin. With a satisfied smirk on his face he pulled his arm tighter.
Wodi's breath was coming quick and his eyes were wide as he continued
to make as much noise as he could, hoping someone would help him or bring help. He wasn't crying just yet, but he was feeling pain. He kicked out, trying to land one somewhere.
"Hold him tight, boys," Rosid said to Valar and Sirgin. "Don't let him
run away." His fists and legs hit Wodi all over his body with almost
machine-like rhythm.
For a while, Bayley could only stand and stare. Then he realized it was
Wodi. Despite his inclination to just run away and leave him, the young
man couldn't. He was still his friend. They had still grown up
together...and Bayley didn't want him _hurt_! The young man took one step, then two...then realized there were far too many and he'd wind up getting killed too. Decision made, Bayley turned on his heel and ran as fast as his legs could carry him. He had to find someone. He had to get help!
Valar had seen movement out of the corner of his eye. "Someone saw us!"
he growled out, but he was still holding Wodi and didn't want to release
the boy yet. Valar looked at the queer before him and snarled. He felt
satisfaction at seeing the blood on his face and he gave him a good punch to the gut before he finally released his arm. It was clear that Wodi was in no shape to fight back now!
"We better get out of here before whoever that was comes back." Valar
turned and gave Wodi one final hit, watching as the boy all but crumpled to the ground from the force of all the blows. "Let's go, before we get caught!" He told his mates who were getting in their last punches and kicks as well.
Wodi had almost lost consciousness at that point. The pain was too much.
His face was one solid mess and there were plenty of bruises forming
elsewhere all around his body. He couldn't keep a single thought in his head except that he wanted it to stop hurting. **Maybe if I just close my eyes and sleep...** He could taste blood. The copper smell reached his nose, but it was hard to breathe.
"Shardit, let's disappear," Rosid swore. His final punch broke the boy's
nose. He gestured for his cronies to let go of him.
Valar let go and watched in satisfaction as the boy crumpled to the
ground. With a quick nod to the others he turned and fled the scene,
knowing they would be close behind him.
Rosid didn't stop to check if his friends made their escape. He just
started running.
