Talking Nonsense

Writers: Len, Paula
Date Posted: 16th January 2011

Characters: E'naer, Rh'gan
Description: E'naer runs into old friend Rh'gan
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 13, day 12 of Turn 5

The Fall today had been a hard one. When Heanth had landed, Rh'gan was more than glad to give the blue brute a big hug and give him a well deserved bath and oiling. It was the least he could do after his lifemate had more than once, through clever flying, kept his own hide intact. Exausted but happy, he had been more than happy to sit in the dinning hall and have a well earned pint. Idly he scanned around to see if he knew anyone.

E'naer filled in his mug and looked around. Spotting Rh'gan he waived at thim. They were old wingmates, from the time before E'naer became Weyrlingmaster's Third.

Ah, E'naer. Now that was a man that was easy on the eyes. Rh'gan waved him over, hopeful.

The greenrider didn't hesitate. He made his way quickly over to him. "Rh'gan! It's been too long. How have you been?"

"Good...ish. That was a tough Fall for us today!" He jumped up to give the greenrider a hug. "How are you? The new weyrlings keeping you busy?"

"Aye, the new ones and the old ones learning how to /between/," E'naer replied and answered the hug.

"Tough that. They get through it all okay?" Rh'gan had lost a good friend to a /between/ accident when he was a weyrling. He pored the man a drink.

"So far so good," E'naer said, although he expected they would loose one or two before the senior weyrlings graduated.

"Oh?" Rh'gan leaned forward, hoping E'naer would say more. He had such a nice voice.

"We haven't lost anyone yet. All the injuries so far have been minor ones, the usual sprained wrists and shoulders, oh, and one burned arm," E'naer replied with a grin.

"One burn? What the boy do?"

"Stood too close to a flaming dragonet, his sleeve caught fire," E'near answered.

"Oh dear." Rh'gan tried hard to keep a straight face. "His own or another's lifemate?"

"His own," E'naer said and shook his head.

"Was this under your training, or J'darin's?" he teased the greenrider.

"Now, would I let something like that happen?" E'naer asked with dignified tone.

Rh'gan laughed and leaned towards E'naer. "Enough of young boys and their dragons..how are you?"

"Just fine," E'naer replied and put his arm on his shoulder.

Rh'gan played with the fingers on his shoulder. "Is that 'just' fine?" he teased.

"Oh, that's very fine," E'naer smiled flirtingly.

"Ah, y'know I've got a nice white wine chilling back in my weyr, you interrested?"

"Definently," E'naer said with an arched eyebrow.

"Well then..." Rh'gan stood up, clasping E'naer's hand.

"Mmh, I had almost forgotten how good that feels," E'naer murmured with satisfied voice. Except for Eillispeth's mating flights, he had been almost celibate for past months. A big change in a man who few Turns ago went through all the blueriders he could get his hands on (and few browns and bronzes too, during Mating Flights.)

Rh'gan laughed, and shifted against the man. Whilst they had been friends for a long time, this was the first time they had bedded one another. "How long has it been to forget_that_?"

"How long it's been since Eillispeth's last mating flight?" E'naer chuckled.

"Yes, how come it is that the lovely Eillispeth never lets my blue catch her? Does she have a thing for dragons who's riders will never be your weyrmate?" He lightly kissed E'naer to let him know he was teasing him.

"You talk to _her_ about it," E'naer grumbled goodnaturedly and kissed him back.

"That I might just do," Rh'gan murmered, caressing his back.

"I wouldn't want to miss that conversation," E'naer smiled.

"Hmm...I think she would win that one!"

"She knows what she wants," E'naer said.

Rh'gan looked at him serious for a moment before asking, "and what do you want?"

E'naer sighed deeply. "I wish I knew."

The smaller man traced his fingers along E'naer's scars. "I hope it not this that's holding you back."

"Not any longer, I've gotten used to it," the greenrider replied.

"Then it can't be your pupils holding you back! Unless you're madly in love with several of them. The bronze riders, of course," he teased E'naer.

"Of course," E'naer laughed too.

"Okay, so which Weyrleader-to-be has your heart? Because we all know just how much you greenriders really want one of them, right?" Rh'gan laughed, thinking of how many bronzeriders he knew who actually believed that dibble. "And we all know that each and every one of them_is_the future Weyrleader." He sighed before adding, "it makes me wish more browns caught the queens."

"All of them?" E'naer quipped. "Brownrider as a weyrleader? What next, blueriders as wingleaders?" E'naer joked.

"Why not? But I was thinking greenriders for wingleaders," Rh'gan joked back. "Or maybe just for Weyrwoman. The boys, of course."

E'naer laughed. "How we did end up talking nonsense?"

Rh'gan joined his laughter before reaching up to stroke his hair. "Well, I know one activity that doesn't require any speaking at all..."
