Description: Rhosyn gets J'ren to take her to the hatching at Dragonsfall.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 12, day 8 of Turn 5
The queenrider hadn't forgotten Hygalia's invitation and she thought
it would be rude to miss the hatching at Dragonsfall. Orlaith's eggs
were on the Grounds so she couldn't be gone for very long, but she
could make an appearance and say her congratulations at the least.
K'sedel would be there to watch the eggs if anything happened, so
that meant she needed a ride.
}:Kenaranth, mine needs yours to take her to Dragonsfall:{ Orlaith relayed
as her rider was busy trying to get dressed. It would be cold at the other
Weyr.
Kenaranth politely passed on the message and J'ren looked up from where he
was busy securing his belt. His mind had been on other things, certainly
not the Weyrwoman...not that he didn't ever think about it, but it struck him as funny for some reason that he would be reminded of her when doing such a mundane thing as putting on his belt. **Is that so?**
}:So it seems.:{ Came the reply, touched with humor.
**Then please pass on the message to the Weyrwoman that I will meet her in
about ten minutes. If not less.**
}:Of course.:{ Came the reply from the bronze who then told the gold what
his rider had said.
"Ten minutes? Shards!" Moving at twice the pace of normal, Rhosyn jumped
into her thick gather clothes with River Bluff colors and then started to
lace up her boots. That didn't take long since she had plenty of practice.
It was the hair and lip stain that became the problem. As it was, she gave
up on her hair, putting it back with some metal clips. Deciding she was
presentable, she waited in her weyr for her ride. She hoped that he'd just
have Kenaranth land on the empty ledge, which would be expedient.
Which he did. Kenaranth snorted in a friendly manner, his way of saying
hello. J'ren dismounted but didn't move past the ledge. "Weyrwoman," he
called, his voice carrying easily. "It's J'ren. I'm here if you're still
interested in going." He didn't doubt that she would be. He thought about moving into the weyr proper, but he hadn't been invited and doing so would be rude, so he simply announced himself.
She came out, in her full skirts and all. "I think I'm going to need some
help with all of this." She frowned. Rhosyn didn't like wearing all of that, but she couldn't shame the Weyr looking like an orphan. Walking up to
Kenaranth, she greeted him with a scratch, thinking about whether or not
J'ren could see up her petticoats if he was putting her up.
The sight of the Weyrwoman in skirts - long, luscious, full skirts - made
J'ren do a double take. "Wow!" His face cracked with a smile. "You clean
up nicely Weyrwoman. You should wear something like that more often.
Of course, I'll be glad to assist you. Maybe if I went up and then gave
you a hand to help you up?"
"If I wore this more often, I would melt." She looked up and thought about
it. "Whatever you think will be best. It's just..heavy." Her small size
meant it was more awkward carrying around all that extra weight. His
compliment did placate her somewhat as she felt ridiculous.
"Melt...and then what would we do?" J'ren climbed up his lifemate but
refrained from mounting onto the straps. Instead, he leaned over, one
hand hooked over the back of his dragon, the other stretched out to help
Rhosyn mount. "Maybe you should wear it somewhere colder."
With his assistance, she managed the feat, though she swore she wouldn't
do it often if she could help it. "We are going somewhere colder." Getting
up into the saddle, she adjusted her skirts and all, strapping in.
"Yes." J'ren made sure that the Weyrwoman was strapped in securely before
worrying about himself. "Would you be willing to wear it one more time?"
He asked, craning his neck to look at her.
"For what?" She looked at him, highly suspicious.
"Allow me to escort you to a Gather." J'ren suggested with a grin. "One
in cooler weather so you don't roast."
"Where might that be?" Her interest was piqued, but she couldn't just go
anywhere without a bit of planning first.
"Well, there's one at Fort in a sevenday or so. But if you're not
interested in that, you tell me where you'd be interested in going and
I'll be glad to escort you." J'ren secured his straps but didn't urge the
bronze to take off just yet. It would be difficult to hold a civilized
conversation with the wind rushing in their face and the cold of /between/
biting at their ears.
"I can't go that far, not with the eggs." It would be a while before
Rhosyn would have her freedom again. She only had one more month, though.
"I suspected as much. Perhaps after the hatching?" J'ren gave her an
apologetic grin. "Something to get you away for a little while, have some
fun."
"Mmm we'll see." She didn't want to commit to anything, but it was a good
possibility if the Weyr didn't come down around her ears before then. "Now
we better get going or we'll be late."
"Of course." J'ren wasn't about to argue, though there were ways to make
sure one wasn't late. He cast one last grin toward the Weyrwoman then
urged his lifemate into the air. A few pumps of Kenaranth's wings brought
them high and soon enough, they blinked /between/.
