Lisadi's eyes opened slowly. She tried to swallow, but her throat felt as
dry as desert sands. "Mmm," she moaned and blinked. Why did her head feel so
heavy? She tried to sit up only to flop back on the bed with a groan. "Where
am I?"

"Steady," Miranek said gently. "You're in the infirmary, you've been ill."

"Ill?" She asked, turning and seeing the face of the healer, "What happened?
How long?" **The children! Where were they?** Lisadi tried to keep herself
calm for her head still felt heavy and she ached.

"You've been here for two days, one of the children found you and sent for
Sarban who got me."

"Two days?" She asked incredulous. "The cut on my leg!" She gasped, closing
her eyes at the thought. "I'd meant to get it checked and then forgotten as
it seemed to be healing. Where are the children?"

"Relax," the Healer told her. "Sarban has found them a place to stay while
you recover from a nasty infection."

Lisadi breathed a sigh of relief at that. As long as the children were safe,
she could rest easier. "Thank you Master Miranek. How long will I need to
stay here?" Lisadi shifted in the bed, trying to sit up. Yet she could feel
that her body had been through alot in the past two days. It did not want to
do as she asked. "Do you think the children can visit me? I don't want them
to fall ill, however."

"It'll be two, maybe three days before you can go back home. You can have
visitors though, quiet ones for shor periods of time."

"At least they can visit," Lisadi replied. She hoped both were handling
things okay. They had just been making such good progress in settling in as
a little family. She didn't want her illness to set them all back.

"I understand Sarban has been very good with them, you might want to thank
him, and your boy for coming to get me when they realised something was
wrong."

"I will do that, Master Miranek. Thank you." Lisadi reached up and gripped
his arm. "I meant to have the cut looked at. I truly did, but I got so busy
I forgot." She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath, realizing how
close she could have come to losing everything. "It will never happen again.
I swear it."

"This time you were lucky."

She let out her breath, knowing his words were true. Her eyes started to
flutter closed. She was still so tired. "I'd like to rest again, if that's
okay."

"I'll leave you to it," the healer said. "But if you need anything, and I
mean anything, call out. The other healers and I won't be far away."
