Description: G'nir introduces his daughter to Hygalia
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 12, day 8 of Turn 5
After showing his parents and little girl around the Weyr, G'nir managed
shake loose of his parents (they were busy meeting other Lords and
Ladies) and he and Rinnea went to look for the Weyrwoman. For some
reason he wanted her to meet his daughter. The dining hall was crowded.
The little girl hold his hand was bouncing with excitement.
"Can I have a bubbly, dad?" she asked when a tantalizing smell reached
them.
"Later, sweetling, you have to eat food first," G'nir replied. Spotting
Hygalia, he waived at her.
The Weyrwoman waved back, grinning at the sight of the bronzerider with
a little girl in tow. "This must be your daughter!"
"Yes, she is. This is Rinnea. Rinnea, say hi to the Weyrwoman Hygalia,"
G'nir introduced them.
"Hi. I'm five. Was that big, scary gold your dragon?" Rinnea said and
asked.
"Well, she's not scary _now_," Hygalia said with a little laugh. "In
fact she's very nice! She was just worried about the Hatching. Mothers
worry sometimes, you know."
"I wouldn't know. My mom died when I was baby. I just have fostermother
and granny. She can be terrible fussy, my fostermom," Rinnea said.
Well, it was good the girl didn't seem to feel any sadness about the
fact that she didn't have a mother. Then again, most children in the
Weyr were raised by fosterparents. "Foster mothers and grannies are
mothers too," she assured the girl. "They can worry just as much."
"Is it same as being fussy?" she asked.
"I think it is," G'nir replied.
"I had a foster mother too, and she certainly worried about me," the
goldrider nodded. "She was a Lady Holder."
"My Granny is Lady holder," Rinnea said brightly, she was excited to
find something in common with her.
"I hear she's a fine one, too," Hygalia nodded.
"She's granny," the little girl shrugged indifferently.
The Weyrwoman chuckled softly. "Of course."
"She's sweetheart, isn't she?" G'nir grinned with paternal pride.
"Daddy, I want bubblies!"
Hygalia's face scrunched up slightly, though her eyes sparkled with
mischief. "I don't know if there are bubblies at this feast..."
"There are! We went past the table!" Rinnea told her.
"Really?" the Weyrwoman asked, her eyebrows raised in surprise as if she
hadn't a clue. "What kind?"
"I don't know. Daddy?" the little girl looked at her father for help.
"Why don't we go and see?" G'nir suggested.
"Will you pick one out for me too, Rinnea, while I greet your
grandmother?" Hygalia was, after all, still supposed to be meeting
guests and working the crowd.
"I will," the girl promised seriously.
"Thank you," the goldrider nodded just as solemnly. "Make sure it's a
good one."
"The best one," she declared.
