Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 11, day 28 of Turn 5
The brownrider walked onto the ledge of his weyr. It was getting colder and he could feel the bad weather coming in his bones. He looked out at the rest of Dragonsfall. The cold weather meant less thread to fight, which was a good thing. Jodeth rumbled from his couch, following P'nal out.
}:Scratch me:{
**Yes sir** P'nal grinned even as he reached a hand up to get Jodeth's underside, where he itched. Not too much longer and he'd have to give the brown another coat of oil. Frowning, he wondered if he had a full pot.
"I need to finish that new jacket. Once the sealant dries, it'll be weatherproof. Then, I can do the inside layer." His flight jacket had been looking worn so the tanner had begun to create himself a new one in preparation. A replacement was always good to have ready especially in the winter.
}:All of that makes no sense to me:{ Snorting, the dragon made his way back to his warm couch that was covered in furs. Jodeth's hide got scratched on the bare rock without them.
Watching his dragon head off, he brought his cup of klah to his lips. **I wish I knew something already, though I can't rush things like this** He bit his lip as the warm liquid ran down his throat, warming him. P'nal didn't think he really had a chance at the Wingsecond slot, but he had put his name in the hat.
}:Come inside, it's freezing:{ Jodeth remonstrated so his rider didn't get sick.
**Allright fine** Admitting defeat, P'nal walked by his dragon into his weyr where the fire was going. Stretching out on the sofa, he continued to sip his klah. "Good brew," he murmured to himself.
"Do I really want to go down for meal or do I want to search for some extra rolls or something?" he mused out loud. Deciding that a nice, warm meal would do wonders for his disagreeable nature, he decided in favor of going down. Getting up, he walked to his clothespress and began to get more layers out.
**You ready?**
}:I'm not going:{
**What?**
}:You can take the stairs down. I want to stay here on my warm couch:{
**Well fine**
Secretly wondering if Jodeth wasn't feeling that great due to something, he made a note to take him to the dragonhealers if it continued. There wasn't pain or other ill feelings coming through their bond. Shrugging, P'nal left the weyr and found his way down to the Lower Caverns.
"Hey D'ran!" he waved to another wingrider he knew as he picked up some soup. **Crackers too** Picking items to fill his plate, he searched for a seat. The Cavern was full, as the Weyrfolk went in search of warm food to combat the cold. **Guess everyone had the same idea** he thought as he plopped down and began to arrange his food.
**I hope you're happy**
}:I am. The furs are soft:{ Jodeth's tone did seem smug.
Ripping a piece of meat off and putting it into his mouth, P'nal was glad to feel the warmth of the other bodies. He didn't talk much, just a word or two to a bluerider across the table from time to time, preferring to enjoy his meal. When he was done, he pulled back and just sat there, enjoying a mug of spiced cider made from redfruit.
**Times like these I wish I had a woman to curl up with** His eyes roamed the Cavern, spotting one not too far. She had large hips and looked quite capable. **Wonder if she..** And then she turned around and he saw the awful sneer across her face. **Scratch that** Shivering once, he finished off his cider and got up, heading out.
There was another one coming in the doorway as he exited. **Wonderful hair, I'd love to feel it in my hands** She smelled good too. He caught a whiff of scented sweetsand as she walked by. "My my.." he mumbled while walking through the glow-lit passages of the Weyr.
}:Down boy:{
**Me? You're worse than I am**
}:Yes but I at least chase the greens. You just look:{
**Well maybe I'm just picky**
}:You have to act or you'll never get the grub:{ He was repeating something he'd heard P'nal say quite often, which made his rider smile.
**I am not a wherry, but I get your meaning** he admitted, sighing.
**I'll try to do better, promise**
}:When you are happy, I am happy:{ Jodeth reminded him, leaving it alone for the moment.
Walking back to his weyr, the brownrider shook his head, thinking no woman would ever be able to read him like Jodeth could. Maybe that was the problem.
