It had been two days since he had saw Rosid in the bathing chamber. Wodi
hadn't been venturing out of his family's quarters very often unless he had
to, and never alone if he could help it. He _knew_ something bad was going
to happen. He could feel it. That afternoon, he went to Bayley's quarters to
see if his friend would go with him to gather up rocks for the weights they
put on the bottom of the curtains.

"Where have you been?" Bayley asked when his friend appeared at his door.
"I've hardly seen you around!" The young man shook his head and closed the
door behind him. "You all right? Not sick or anything? If you are, stay
away from me, I don't want to get it!"

"Naw I'm not sick. I'll tell you about it when we get up there," he answered
quickly, looking left and right as they made their way out of the Hold.

"Ooookay." Bayley eyed his friend, but followed him, hands stuck in his
pockets. He hurried after Wodi, keeping close and trying his best not to ask
questions, which was hard.

Once they were up on the cliffs, filling their bags with rocks, Wodi started
to talk. "The other day I was in the bathing chamber. Rosid was there.
Anyway, after the bath and all...I saw him. And..he saw me. And he knew I
saw him. And...oh shells, I messed up Bayley." He was trying his best not to
break down and cry right there. Wodi knew what could happen. He _knew_.

Bayley paused in his gathering and peered over at his friend, confusion
crinkling over his face. "What in the world are you talking about, Wodi?
Did you try to ambush Rosid and get caught?"

"Not an ambush. I was just looking. And I..I got excited." His cheeks
reddened and he threw a rock into his sack.

"Excited? About seeing Rosid? Why? I mean, it's not like you two are best
friends or anything." No, supposedly they were. Bayley rubbed his nose on
his sleeve then picked up some more rocks.

"Well you know how you get for girls? I got that way when I saw Rosid." He
frowned, willing Bayley to understand. It wasn't as if he hadn't tried to
tell him a hundred times before.

"Hah! Had a girl on your mind, eh? Wait, it's not Rosid's sister, is it?
Oh man, he's going to _kill_ you!" Bayley cackled, quite amused at the
thought.

"Yes he _is_ going to kill me because I was thinking about him, not a girl."
As well as Bayley knew Wodi, he should have already guessed except that he
was in denial.

"What? Why were you thinking about _him_?" Bayley straightened and ran
his arm across his forehead, wiping his brown though there was little in the
way of sweat. He eyed his friend, uncertainty plaguing his expression.

"I told you, but you never listened. I like boys." Wodi walked a ways off
and began digging for rocks silently, his expression that of stone.

"Huh?" Bayley stood there for a long time, staring at Wodi. He didn't
just...yes he did. No...but...but...The boy's face turned red and he ducked his
head and went about picking up rocks and putting them in the bag. He worked
quickly and as soon as he was done, the young man slung it over his shoulder, turned
and hurried back to the hold.

Wodi watched him go and sighed, feeling very alone. He only had one friend
really, and he was gone too. **Am I that bad? All I ever wanted to do was to cook**
Sighing, he finished his chore and walked slowly back himself, resigned to
his fate.
