Wirnan

Wirnan

Sitting at his desk, Wirnan pushed back from the scroll he'd been reading and ran a hand through his mousy brown hair. He'd been poring over all the old scrolls of the Hold since his arrival and his eyes felt like they were seeing double. There was a lot to learn about such a large Hold like Amber Hills.

Leaning back and closing his eyes for a moment, Wirnan thought back to things before he'd come here. His finger brushed the scar behind his ear and he gave a wistful smile. Now _those_ were the days. Dirino, his grandfather, had been his idol and Wirnan had dreamed of saddling up on the finest creatures Pern had to offer. He opened his eyes and looked down at his somewhat stocky legs that just reached the floor from his seat. Like he would ever have made a good beastcrafter! He'd wanted it, though, more than anything else in the world.

Swiveling in his chair, he turned to look around the room. **I need to give the walls a bit more of a personal touch,** he thought to himself. Maybe Dwidara, his sister, would be able to help him organize the office to suit him a bit more.

Pushing back to his desk, Wirnan picked up the scroll he'd been reading before and went back to work.

-----

Walking into his room, Wirnan tossed his jacket onto the back of a chair with a sigh. He settled into the soft chair he'd grown to love already. Dwidara had invited him to dinner, but he'd been so caught up in his work that he'd lost track of time and missed the meal completely. He'd make sure to spend some time with her and the family tomorrow, right now all Wirnan wanted to do was relax.

Why did he feel so lonely here when in fact he was closer to his family than he'd been in Turns? Perhaps it was the simple fact that he hardly knew anyone at Amber Hills. Wirnan was used to having many friends around, and so far, he'd met a few people, but hadn't had much chance to _really_ get to know any of them.

**That's it!** He thought, sitting up in his seat. **I've got to get out of this room and get to know the rest of the people here.**

Rising, Wirnan grabbed his jacket one again and slipping his arms into it, he left his own rooms, ready to stop focusing solely on his work and finally get to know the people of Amber Hills Hold!
