Lady Felyna

Felyna

Sarban sat in his office eating biscuits as he waited for Lady Felyna to appear. He had let her know he needed to talk to her about something but hadn't said what it was. He couldn't have half the Hold knowing, after all. Once he knew he had her on board completely, he could delegate some things to her which would help.

Curious, for she knew Sarban wasn't a huge supporter of her, she arrived at the appointed time at his office. Perhaps he had reconsidered her offer of finding him a wife? She knocked and waited for his response before stepping quietly into view. "Good day

Sarban," she offered with a warm smile. Nothing would be hurt by her trying to make him a stouter friend. She did like him, and knew Corowal did. "I took the liberty of stopping at the kitchens and asking for some klah and juice, in case you are anything like my husband and forget to eat or drink or both." She waited, standing, knowing the drudge would appear in a moment, but looked curiously at him. What had he wanted to talk to her about?

"Well I do have biscuits and klah, but no matter. Have a seat but please shut the door behind you. Can't have anyone overhearing.." Sarban brought out his notes and ran over what he had wanted to cover in their little meeting.

Curious, very curious, she did as he asked, taking the tray from the drudge who appeared in the door, thanking her, then shutting it behind as she brought the tray over. "A secret meeting with the Lady Holder, Sarban? People will talk." She smiled though, showing him that she was teasing him. Putting the tray off to the side as he seemed very focused on the meeting itself now, she turned her attention to him. "What is it you don't want anyone to overhear?"

"Well there is something I need your help with. You may know that Corowal's birthingday is coming next turn. It'll be his 50th. Around the same time, we plan to have the harper hall finished. So I was thinking..might be nice to surprise everyone with a Gather. I've been making some inquiries but I can't do it all myself. And he is not to know until the last possible minute." Sarban felt like a child again to some degree, hiding something from his Uncle.

Already planning for next turn? She was amazed, but happily so. "Why, how thoughtful Sarban! Of course I will help. He pays very little mind to how I fill my days unless I _make_ him pay attention, so I am your perfect helper. He pays far more attention to you." She added wryly. But it was not bitter nor self-pitying. It simply was. "A gather is a wonderful idea; we need to get some good runner races going too. He will enjoy that. And invite the Weyr of course." Her mind started darting off in a hundred directions. "But do you have a list of exactly what you would like me to do? Before I run away with the plans..." She finished, with a faint smile.

"I have already spoken with the vintners about beverages and made as much arrangements as I can with the holders for tithes for food. The crafters know they can do stalls and such. The harpers have their own arrangements to make. On your end, I need you to invite the Weyr but to let them know that... it can't get out so that Corowal hears as well as the other Lord and Lady Holders. We'll have to figure out quarters for everyone which should also fall on you and the Headwoman." He went down his list, wondering if he'd forgotten something. "I'm thinking if some of the other Holders' children are here..we might get Corofel a lady..that happens sometimes."

Felyna chuckled at the comment about Corofel. "Marrying him off already, Sarban? And you, who won't let me marry YOU off?" She teased him, gently, still unsure of where she stood with the Steward who was so loyal to her husband. "We are planning quite far ahead, Sarban. I'm sure everything will work out just fine. Invitation won't need to be sent for a month or more, but I will certainly take care of that detail, with the added complexity of making it a "secret" Gather. I'm sure we can count on the Weyr's discretion. We'll do some shifting for quarters, and be fine, I'm sure. Were you thinking just a one day Gather, or a three day extended party? It will also be a month after Corowal and I's first turn anniversary....." she mused, thinking of what the last several months had brought.

"Ah well with three celebrations in one then, we'll be doing the three days' for certain." Sarban thought about that. Had it been that long? "Eh well he's the Heir, has to breed new children for the Bloodline. Me?
I'm hired help." He smiled, chuckling.

"Well, we don't have to have a three day ordeal. It could be done in one. Our anniversary doesn't need to be a Hold-wide party; it was just me thinking aloud. Whatever you would like, Steward, we will do, hmm?" She smiled at his other comment, shaking her head in disagreement. "And you are _far_ from the hired help! Corowal trusts you implicitly! It will be quite hard for you to hide your work from him on this party, but I will do all I can to help."

"Aye well I've managed it somehow so far, so here's hoping." He owed a lot to Corowal, and they were family, even if he wasn't Blood. Family took care of family. "Wouldn't be any sense in getting all the traders
and crafters down here just for one day anyway."

Felyna nodded in agreement. "Three days is probably better, in that case." Felyna tapped her fingers on his desk, naming off the things. "Weyr. Sleeping arrangements. Invitations. I will take care of all of those
with the help of the Headwoman. Also, we should come up with something to explain any extra time I spend closeted with you. Perhaps, just for fun, we could say I _was_ finding you a wife.... just in case he wonders
why I am meeting with you more than usual?"

"You might say you're trying to, which would be more believable since we all know I just tolerate your machinations," It was said in a friendly manner and it was true that Sarban saw Felyna's efforts as just
another girly thing that women did.

Well, and it was! Though, truth be known, Felyna was even more of a matchmaker than most women. And she was pleasant and charming enough to get most people to agree to her chosen matches. Most people! But Sarban was a tough one. She laughed though and nodded. "Right you are, Steward. Very well, then. You've got yourself a partner." She smiled once more and extended her small, delicate hand toward him.

If he was being proper, he would have kissed it, but he shook it like a man once, then let her go. "Allright then, just keep me filled in. Hoping it all works out."
