G'nir loved the feel of a woman's body next to his, he loved the smell
of sex and even more he loved the knowledge that he had won!
What a victory it was! He had won her, he had won the Weyr. He was the
Weyrleader and she was his Weyrwoman. He reached to caress the face
resting against his shoulder.
She had been dozing lightly and the touch quickly woke her with a jerk
of her head. It took a second to focus on his face and realize who he
was and where they were. Letting out a deep breath, she summoned a
smile. "Hello, G'nir." **Interesting...**
"Hello, Hygalia, my lady," the bronzerider replied.
Ah, so because he woke up in the bed next to him, he thought she was
'his lady'. One of those. Well, he certainly was his father's son!
But she put on a smile to humor him. "I'm sure word is making it's way
around the Weyr already."
"It certainly is," G'nir agreed.
Sitting up, she scanned the room trying to figure out just where her
clothes had ended up. Hopefully nothing got ripped in the process.
"Genith seems rather pleased with herself. It should be a good Clutch."
"I do hope so. And Nirreth is being very smug right now," G'nir remarked
after his eyes glazed over for a moment. His bronze wasn't only one
feeling smug. G'nir crossed his arms behind his back and just watched
her appreciatively.
"Are you hungry? I can have something sent up for you," she offered as
she found her tunic. Hygalia had dressed in clothes that were easy to
pull on and off, knowing Genith would be rising and having lost too many
good clothes in the moment.
"I'm not hungry for food." G'nir said and reached out to pull her back
to him. He was starting to be ready for second round.
Hygalia knew what was exactly on his mind, and she had two options.
First, she could try to make hints and lame excuses and hope he'd catch
on, or second, she could be straight forward and honest. She had tried
the first several times in the past with very little success. It was
better that she be honest. Giving in to him just because he wanted it
was not an option.
"G'nir," she said gently, "I don't know you. I may have just had
wonderful sex with you under my dragon's influence, but I am under my
own power now, and while I'm sure over time I will _get_ to you know, as
you were Holdbred the same as I, I expect that you will understand that
I don't just give myself freely to anyone no matter how important the
Flight was. I'm sorry."
Part of G'nir, the Lord holder's son, did understand. She had her
dignity, she wasn't just some wanton woman. She was like his lady
mother or his sisters. Still, a part of him was too much under influence
of dragon lust just to give up without one more try. "Come on, you just
can't walk
out of here like this after _that_ one," he put all of his considerable
charm into the play.
She looked him straight in the eye. Hygalia had way too much experience
with proddy bronzeriders to take that from anyone. Even a Weyrleader.
"I can, and I _will_."
Forcing himself on a woman was something G'nir couldn't even think of.
He sighed and gave up. "As you wish, m'lady," he got up too. Perhaps he
could found some willing woman outside, who could help him burn off the
dragonlust.
"Besides," the Weyrwoman said, forcing herself to smile and soften her
tone, "I would like to have a chance to take a bath and change before
you have your first meeting. It is an important one and it is essential
that we make a good impression for both our sakes."
It was only now starting to dawn to G'nir what being Weyrleader meant.
"Yes, you're right," he said thoughtfully. He trashed the idea of second
woman out of hand, cold bath it would be instead. As a weyrleader, he
had to think what kind of image he gave, what kind of reputation he
would have. And moving straight from Weyrwoman's bed to some other
woman's bed was
not the kind of reputation he wanted to have.
Her smile was a bit more genuine now. "Would you like me to hand you
your clothes? They seem to be on my side of the bed."
"Yes, thank you," G'nir replied. He sighed a bit. "A cold bath's calling
my name."
"Setting up the meeting is your prerogative, but would you like for me
to prepare anything? Drinks? Food?" She wanted him to understand that
she was willing to work as a team with him.
"Maybe we could have late dinner at the same time. Is one candlemark
from now too early for you?" G'nir said and replied, shifting into the
leadership-gear.
"I'm sure the kitchens can throw something together in that time. The
fires should still be hot. And I'll make sure there is klah on hand."
And some stiffer drinks too. She was not sure how T'mahl was taking his
displacement.
"Busy days ahead of us," the bronzerider couldn't resist a smug grin.
"Most certainly." She picked his clothes off the ground and laid them
carefully at the foot of the bed. "Well, I am to my bath, then. We
will see you in the meeting room in a candlemark then?"
"Yes, most definently," G'nir agreed. He didn't bother with the shirt,
just pants and boots would do until he get some fresh clothes on after
bath.
"It really was a well-flown Flight," Hygalia said as a parting thought
to stroke the new Weyrleader's ego. It was obviously a large one, and
she might as well practice now.
"It was. It will lead to a well-sized clutch too," G'nir said. Which
reminded him, he need to check how many candidates they had and start
sending out Search riders. His mind was already filling up with plans.
She nodded, completely confident of that fact, but smiling secretly
inside. It wouldn't have been nearly so good a Flight if it hadn't been
for her gold's evasive skills. The bronze could only be proud of
keeping up with her so long, but their riders sure liked to believe it
was their stamina that lead to a nice sized Clutch. "I'll get
everything ready and see you there."
"See you then," G'nir smiled.
