Location: Harper Hall
Date: month 9, day 4 of Turn 5
"Ah, hallsecond Thanja," Eilomar greeted when he almost ran over the master
printer in the hallway.
"Master Eilomar, good day to you," she responded.
"And good day to you too," the master singer was actually sounding cheery.
"You're in a good mood today," that greeting had shown little of the notable
gruff manner that the Master Harper seemed to cultivate as a rule.
"Yes, I am, aren't I," Eilomar answered.
"Any reason for it?" she asked.
"Well, I am going to get married," Eilomar replied bit sheepishly.
"Married?" That brought a note of surprise to her voice. Then an image came
into her mind of a middle-aged woman, a widow maybe. Perhaps one with a few
grandchildren, and one who liked her food. "May I ask the lucky lady's
name?"
"Her names is Merlish," Eilomar told her.
"Is she from around here?"
"No, but her grand-uncle is master Tantral," Eilomar said.
A great niece of Tantral would be closer in age to her own daughter was what
ran through Thanja's mind. Still she smiled, "You have set a date?"
"Yes, at the Turn's Beginning. We haven't made the official declaration
yet," Eilomar replied.
"I hope both of you are looking forward to it."
"So do I," Eilomar murmured.
"Have you known her for long?" Maybe there was an old fashioned love story
here,
"No, I haven't. You can blame old Tantral for this marriage. He can be
persuasive," Eilomar said.
"He can indeed," Thanja had to agree, but there was a moment of wondering
how persuasive he had been to the young lady in question.
"I can only hope it turns out to be as she expects," Eilomar said. Probably
first time in his life he now worried he might fail as a husband.
"I'm sure you'll be a fine husband to her."
"I think I've learned from my past one, so I won't repeat same mistakes,"
Eilomar replied.
"Then all that remains is to congratulate you and your bride to be," Thanja
said. "And to wish you luck."
"Thank you, Thanja," Eilomar bowed his head. "It's nice to have friend like
you, so I hope you and your family will able to attend the wedding."
"We'd be honoured."
"We try to get the official invitations out in good time," the master singer
said.
"You have a few months yet, although they may go faster than you think with
all the preparations that need to be made. If you need to adjust your class
load, please let me or the Hallmaster know."
"Of course I will," Eilomar promised.
"And speaking of classes, I must get to one," Thanja said. "Those
apprentices won't wait."
"Same here," Eilomar actually smiled.
"Have a good day."
"You too, Thanja."
