G'nir

"Have you noticed how much time our glorious wingleader spends with
certain, admittedly very beautiful, young greenrider?" G'nir asked his
fellow bronzerider, swirling his spoon absenly in a soup.

"Aileyan?" J'nev snorted as he dipped his roll into the broth. "He can
have her."

"Oh, you tried your luck too?" the older bronzerider's tone was
symphatic.

"She's a snob," his wingmate replied with a rather disgusted look on his
face. The corners of his lips twitched a bit as he remembered the last
time he tried. "U'kaiah had to work for it, though, I'll tell you. I
saw her turn him down once, and in public too."

"She's just hard to get, and obviously not as loose as some
greenriders," G'nir sounded approving. After all he had grown up
surrounded by aloof women, who kept themselves apart and respected it.

"I wonder what made her lower her standards. It's not like U'kaiah
doesn't have an infamous reputation." Though most people, it seemed,
actually liked the wingleader, which irked J'nev even more.

"Who knows the woman's mind?" G'nir asked rhetorically. "I would be more
concerned what effect their relationsship has. After all, there's valid
reasons why lovers and family members are separated to different
wings..." he stopped to see if the younger bronzerider caught it.

He knew exactly what G'nir meant. "You mean you think they're more than
just bed partners?"

"Who knows? I haven't seen anything alarming...yet," G'nir was happy to
see that his seeds were falling into fertile ground.

"Well, I haven't ever seen her with any other men," J'nev conceded.
"But I hear he only gets serious with goldriders."

"Don't we all?" G'nir asked with raised eyebrown.

"I don't." Of course, the only goldriders he knew were much older or
related to him. "But from what I hear, U'kaiah was Jaela's main bed
partner before she died, he was flying off to Dolphin Cove whatever
restday he could and entertaining their Weyrwoman all the others, and I
also understand he had been seen leaving Kapera's weyr on more than one
occasion. He can't be into Aileyan. Not long term."

"Perhaps not. I don't claim to know him very well," G'nir said, rather
interested in what J'nev had told him. Could he use it somehow?

"But... Really, is what he's doing with Aileyan really that bad?"
J'nev was curious. He knew why families shouldn't be in the same wing,
but it was no secret U'kaiah had bed half the female greenriders. There
was no avoiding it, sometimes.

"Favouritism is one problem. Other problem is that you look after the
one who is important to you and forgot the rest. That can cause injuries
in Fall, when someone's attention is on wrong person. Of course, if he's
not paying any special attention to her, then there is no problem,"
G'nir was on lecture mode.

Again, J'nev snorted. "His eye's on _every_ woman." And suddenly it
dawned on him. "He's had Teseada, too." J'nev's own sister! "There
really isn't a woman in this Weyr he wouldn't bed."

Well, that description also fit to G'nir and most bronzeriders he knew,
so he just nodded and tasted his soup. It had finally cooled to the
point he could eat it.

"He'd just best keep to that little wherry Aileyan from now on, or I
will definitely have words with him." He would not see his sister, even
just a _half-sister_ used by an ass like him!

G'nir gave him amused glance. Shards, he was a young one!
