Every woman's dream

Description: Zelanka remembers when she started to go out with Petriv.
Location: Amber Hills Hold
Date: month 8, day 23 of Turn 5
Notes: Follows: "Forbidden moment"

Zelanka was spinning. It was a task that gave her hand work but let her
mind free to wander. Her mind tended to wander back to that scene in the
stable and to her husband. Petriv was seven Turns older than she was. She
had know about him...well, pretty much whole of her life, but never paid
attention to him before he approached her with flowers he had self picked
up. She had been seventeen. He had been handsome, polite and she could
detect a kind, warm soul behind his nervousness. Was it surprise that she
had fallen for him? He was every woman's dream. For some
reason, her mind returned one moment, when she confessed to her best
friend she had fallen in love. They had been spinning then too, well, she
was and the other was sorting the yarn to the be dyed.

"Petriv asked me out. He is going to take me to the Tavern," Zela told her
friend, cheeks getting a pretty rose-shade when she thought about it.

"_Petriv_?" Duksana asked, her eyes wide with surprise. "I didn't think
he talked to _any_ girls!"

"I think he's shy," Zelanka replied.

"So he asked you to go to the Tavern with him? When?" Now her friend
wanted all the details!

"Yesterday evening. He brought me flowers and shards, he was so nervous
that he stuttered and blushed!" Zelanka giggled. "I thought it was cute."

"Awww." Duksana sighed. It sounded so sweet. "To think he liked you
think whole time and he finally got up the courage."

"Yes, very sweet," Zelanka agreed.

Her friends eyes sparkled as she dug a little deeper. "And how do you
feel about _him_?"

"Well, I barely know him," she admitted. "But I've only heard good things
about him."

"And he is nice to look at," Duskana prodded.

"That he is," Zelanka agreed. "Tall and wiry... He kind of needs a hair
cut though, and I would love to give him a one."

"Oh? Why's that?"

"I don't know. My fingers just itch for scissors, when I see his hair.
It's so untidy," Zelanka shook her head.

"And yet despite that, you're willing to go down to the tavern with him.
Love really is blind," her friend grinned mischievously.

"Man has to have some fault," Zelanka said.

"Well, certainly every man you've liked _so_ far," her friend agreed,
thinking back on a choice or two that she had always been perplexed as to
what Zelanka had been thinking.

"Well, maybe this time I found some one worthy," She sighed.

Duksana reached out to put her hand on her friends knee. "I hope he's the
one, Zela. I really do."

"I hope so too," Zelanka sighed. Her eighteenth birthing day was
approaching soon. "I'm running out time. If I don't find a suitable
husband, the Headwoman will find one for me."

"I'm sure it won't come to that." It was easy for her companion to be
optimistic. Not only was she younger, she also had the protection of
family. There was pressure to marry, of course, but the timing for her
was not rushed. Zela, as a ward of the Hold, was a burden until she could
find a suitable husband. Duksana was at least family. "He'll be the one.
I feel it."

"Well, he is good looking, despite the hair, he has good reputation, he's
a crafter, with promising career and although I can't say much about his
personality yet, he seems kind," Zelanka ticked off the good points with
her finger.

"I can't say no one else hasn't noticed his good looks." Though she had
to agree about the hair. "He has nice eyes."

"Yes, but you can't really see them, with all that hair hanging over them!"

She shrugged. "It makes him seem mysterious, though. Like he has a secret."

"Yes, it does. Mystery is appealing," Zelanka grinned.
