Description: B'lamick and Briata head to the gather and B'lamick makes a suggestion as to what they do for a while.
Location: Amber Hills Hold
Date: month 7, day 21 of Turn 5
It was freezing at Amber Hills, but even that cold couldn't compare with the cold of /between/. Still, Briata shivered as she dismounted Latarth with the aid of B'lamick. How interesting to have a Gather in the midst of winter. Fortunately there was little wind to add to the chill of the air. Briata smiled and let her hand slide into B'lamick's. What do we do first?"
"Whatever you want to do. Though eventually, I'll want to claim you for a few dances." This day held an air of excitement for him, though he tried not to show it. It was their first time away from the Weyr since the night they'd spent together. He was honoring her request to take things slow, but he planned on holding her hand though the merchant's square, and showing her off a bit to the other riders if he saw them.
"I would be disappointed if you didn't." Briata enjoyed dancing, and especially with B'lamick. She would take any opportunity she had to share that with him. "We should walk around a bit, see if any of the events appeal to us."
"How about some hot cider?" B'lamick pointed to the drink stall not far away. "I haven't had any in ages. My father used to make the best, got the recipe from my cousin who's a vintner."
"Hot cider sounds good, actually." Briata stated readily. Stalls came into view as they moved into the Gather area and Briata took note of at least one that sold fabric. She would have to come back to that later. "Your father has a stall here? A healer making cider - is he going to switch crafts?"
B'lamick laughed and shook his head. "No. I was just saying he used to make good cider at the Healer Hall. When I was a kid. He'd never open a stall of his own. I'll take two please." He said to the man once they'd approached. He tried to hand over payment but the man shooed him off.
"Dragonrider marks aren't any good here, but do come back for a refill when you like."
"Mmm, this is good." Briata murmured in between sips. The cider was both tangy and sweet and warmed her pleasantly inside. "There's so many stalls." The girl leaned over to look down the row they were on and all the people who were milling about. "I saw at least one stall that was selling fabric. I wonder if there are more."
B'lamick gave her hand a squeeze as she sipped the very hot cider. "Why don't we go see?" He'd be more than happy to buy her some, he had a fair amount of marks saved up.
"Surely something like that would bore you to tears." Briata was pleased that he wanted to go with her, even if it was only to humour her. He was putting her desires first. "Why don't we do something we both enjoy first? I can always look at the fabric later."
"Okay, but I want to be there. I want to get you something while we're here today. If not fabric, then maybe something else?" He wanted to make her happy, to show her how special she was to him.
"You don't have to get me anything." Briata did have a few marks to spend. Not many, but enough to get at least a length or so of cloth. The girl stepped a little closer to B'lamick so they touched as they walked. "But it is sweet of you to offer."
He wasn't going to insist. Maybe she wasn't the type that liked gifts. Maybe she just thought it was too soon? He'd wait, go slow like she wanted, and try again some other time. "Let's keep looking around then. Somebody said there was to be a maze today. I wouldn't mind getting lost for an hour or so with you."
Colour that had been brought to her cheeks by the sting of her cold brightened and Briata sipped at her cider to hide her expression. Inwardly, she too was pleased at the idea. "That sounds like fun."
"Come on then," B'lamick grinned and dragged her off. "Let's go explore."
Briata laughed as she allowed him to lead her onward. They traversed past the gather square and to the northern outskirts where one of the entrances lay. Lost for an hour or so? With B'lamick? No, that wouldn't be a bad thing at all. Not at all.
