Murder Investigation

Writers: Emma, Paula
Date Posted: 11th February 2010

Characters: Corowal, Zandan, Miranek
Description: Corowal, Zandan and Miranek start to investigate Barric's death.
Location: Emerald Falls Hold
Date: month 7, day 12 of Turn 5

Corowal returned to the room Barric has used as office with Miranek and
Zandan. He knew the healer couldn't help the holder anymore. He needed
Miranek to confirm the death, the murder, and to find the exact cause of
death. The office had grown even darker, and since electricity was down,
he
brought a glow basket with him.

"I just hope you haven't messed any tracks or other evidence," the guard
captain grunted. He would naturally lead the investigation of Barric's death.

"I did kind of stumble on him," Corowal replied with apologetic tone and
gestured Miranek and Zandan to proceed him in.

The Healer took a seat. "Milord, Barric definitely dies as a result of his
injuries, I believe there was a blow to the back of his head that did the
most damage, after that it was hard to tell more."

Corowal just nodded.

"Based on previous cases like this that I've seen, we better keep an eye
on bruised knuckles. Miranek, if some comes to seek help for suspicious
hand
injuries, I want you to tell it to me," Zandan commented and asked.

"Of course," said the Healer. "It was possible that someone had a club
though, the head wound looked like it had been delivered with something
other than bare hands."

Zandan nodded. "Any idea when it happen?"

"He's not been dead long, within the last four to six candlemarks. A
healer who specialises in pathology might be able to tell you more
accurately
though."

"We don't have one in the hold," Corowal remarked.

"Well, the timeframe is enough for me. I ask around and found out who saw
him alive last and when. The murder's probably don't admit seeing him, so
we can narrow it down more. We do know when Corowal found him," Zandan
said.

The Lord Holder grimaced. "Not my favourite moment."

Miranek paused in thought for a moment, "Sir, if you'll need something to
help you sleep after the shock I'd be able to provide you with a calming
tea."

"I keep that in mind," Corowal said. Anger was simmering in his eyes.
"Zandan, find these killers and bring them to justice," he ordered.

"As you command, my lord," Zandan replied, a hunter's feral gleam in his
eyes.

"Is there anything else you need from me?" asked Miranek, there were
patients he needed to check on.

"No, you can go back to your living patients. Thank you for your help,"
Corowal replied with a grateful nod.

"Sir," Miranek nodded to the Lord Holder as he got to his feet. "If you
will both excuse me."

Corowal nodded him.

"I'll get to work too. The sooner we catch them the better," Zandan said.

"All right. Just get few men to pick Barric's body and take him to the
burial site," Corowal asked and the captain simply nodded.
