Characters: U'das, B'lamick
Description: B'lamick reports to U'das after missing morning drills because of the storm.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 7, day 15 of Turn 5

B'lamick headed to the Wingleader's office as soon as he'd dropped Briata off. While Latarth had informed U'das's dragon of the reason he was missing morning drills, he'd been told to report as soon as he returned. He needed to get his hand addressed, he knew the simple wrapping wouldn't protect his hand during afternoon drills, but he could wait a few minutes before going to a healer.

"B'lamick," U'das said when the young bronzerider entered his office.

"Sorry about this morning, U'das. We came back as soon as the winds allowed." B'lamick explained. "I still can't believe that storm popped up so strongly like that."

"What were you doing in that storm, care to explain it?" the wingleader asked. "It's not like you to miss drills." His tone indicated disappointment.

"A friend and I went up to that sledding spot of V'rek's to have some fun yesterday afternoon." B'lamick replied. U'das was a fair man, B'lamick wasn't worried about repercussions, it had been something unavoidable. "In the half hour or so we were inside a little cot warming up with some klah, a storm blew over the mountains. We tried leaving, but the gusts were like they are around Heynan's cliffs and Latarth couldn't get to a height where we could go /between/. I figured better safe than sorry, so we hunkered down until this morning."

"Did you check the weather reports of the area before hand?" U'das asked. B'lamick was a good rider with very good record, so he could afford to be understandable.

"I'm not even really sure where it is, except in the far western rangeland. Latarth just went off of the mental image V'rek gave us. No Hold near by to check with." B'lamick replied. "Though like I said, it was clear as could be when we arrived."

"Hmpf," U'das grunted. "Well, weather can play tricks on anyone." He fixed a stern gaze to the young bronzerider. "However, make sure it won't happen again. Faranth forbid me telling my riders what to do or do not in their free time. As long as they show up to their duties in time, it's none of my business. In the future, I suggest you consider more careful _when_ to go out on these wild excursions."

B'lamick knew that timing it back had been out of the question since Briata would have figured it out, in the end, there had simply been no way around it. "Yes sir. I do apologize for the inconvenience this all caused."

U'das just nodded. B'lamick was a good, young rider with clean record. He was also a bronzerider and need to be an example. He took a scrap hide, scribbled something on it and handed it to him: "These two have troubles with staying in wing-formation. I want you to go through it with them, as many times as it takes, until they learn it and get it nailed down to perfection." It served as a punishment but also as a valuable experience for someone who might someday lead his own wing. Usually either wingsecond or -third would be dealing with it.

"Sure." B'lamick replied as he took the hide. Do you want me to hang back with them after afternoon drills or get an early start in the morning?"

"Whatever best suits your schedule," U'das said with a wave of his hand.

He'd do it tomorrow then, he'd promised Briata they would meet for dinner and talk things out.
