Briata blinked up at the sky. She'd gotten out a bit early from classes thanks to finishing her project. She'd actually been the very first person to turn it in and while the journeywoman hadn't said anything, Briata could tell she had been pleased. Whether it was from Briata turning it in early or from the quality of the work, Briata couldn't say. At least, she _hoped_ it was because of the quality of her work. To be honest, when Briata saw the journeymen and women and especially the Masters and their works, she couldn't help but feel inadequate.
Movement from her right caused Briata to turn, but the sight of a familiar face brought a smile. "Hello Marza." The green near her must be her lifemate. Briata sent a silent hello to the creature. "How does this day find you? Well, I hope."
Marza's eyes focused on Briata, and the smile stayed on her face, "Hello Briata! I'm doing well indeed today." she patted the lithe green next to her affectionately. With a wide grin, Marza took a formal pose and introduced the dragon to the lady, "Briata, may I introduce the best green dragon in the weyr, Creaith. Crea, this is Briata who makes beautiful embroidery and enjoys the company of a particular bronzerider we both know." The rider's smile turned slightly suggestive for second then returned to her usual happy smile.
Briata had already greeted the green but she mentally spoke to the creature as she spoke aloud. "Well met Creaith." Then she paused as she caught the last thing Marza had stated. "Bronzerider?" Immediately one name came to mind and she followed with, "B'lamick?"
"Well you have been hanging around with him quite a bit," the greenrider grinned. "He's a great guy though, and good at .... well .. many things, I'm sure." Her grinned widened.
"He is a great guy." Briata could readily agree to that but she wasn't quite sure about what the girl meant. "He's a good friend."
Marza grinned, "A good friend huh?" she asked, but her tone asked a totally different question and the gleam in her eye suggested at something completely different from the innocent question
"Yes." Briata frowned a little bit. She had a feeling Marza was trying to say something without really saying it. She wished the greenrider would just come out and say it. "Why?"
"Well, you're hanging around him a lot, and from what I understand you have no other ties .... and he's a good looking rider ... and this is the Weyr, so ... " she shrugged, "might be worth testing the goods. I doubt he'd refuse."
Briata sat there and stared. The woman was speaking some sort of gibberish, or maybe it was a code. A dragonrider code. "I'm sorry," She stated slowly, "I don't think I quite follow you."
Marza chuckled heartily, "I'm sorry ... that was not meant ...." She covered her mouth with her hand for a moment as if to control the giggle. "Briata, you're not in the hold any more," a giggle escaped her lips, "this is the Weyr." She looked expectantly at Briata for comprehension, but seeing none she continued, "you're allowed to do whatever you'd like with whomever you'd like as long as they agree. ... You could just drag him off to his Weyr and have an entertaining evening in bed."
The girl's yes got wide and her entire face turned red. "Marza!" She glanced around and was very glad that B'lamick wasn't there. It was embarrassing enough to have the greenrider suggest such a thing, Briata would have been absolutely horrified had she done so in front of the very man they were talking about. "It's...it's not like that." Oh but Marza had certainly put a thought into her head! Of course, B'lamick took that point in time to walk by. He was a ways away, out of earshot, but Briata saw him. Immediately her blush returned and she looked aweay. "We're not...like that."
But Marza's comments continued to ring. She couldn't help but think about what she had said. They _had_ been spending a lot of time together, but that didn't necessarily mean anything. B'lamick hadn't seemed interested in anything besides friendship. "I...should probably go. I'll see you later." Briata moved away in the direction of B'lamick. She had already said she would meet him. The young woman couldn't help but notice the knowing smile on the greenriders face. No, they weren't anything but friends...but oh, the thoughts Marza's comments had brought to mind!
