M'van looked down his list, working out who was next.
**Kiloth, please ask Leith and his rider to come now.**
E'rae received the communication and he walked out with Leith who was busily clawing up clods of dirt as he went.
The blue stopped and looked around, before settling his whirling eyes on his rider. E'rae spotted M'van and nodded, prepared to do whatever was necessary.
"E'rae, isn't it?" asked the dragonhealer.
"Aye sir," came the stiff reply, as E'rae looked on.
Leith fidgeted slightly, but then his head came down to survey the dragonhealer.
}:Will he poke me in the belly?:{
**Likely yes, but it's for the good and you won't feel it past a few minutes**
}:I hope not:{ But the blue sounded unconvinced.
"No need for such formality," said M'van. "This won't take long." He studied his fellow bluerider for a moment. "Can you tell me what his health has been like generally since his last review? Any strains, aches or other complaints?"
"Well, not really. He claims to be a bit sore under his left wingjoint, but I've been massaging it with oil and he doesn't feel the pain as much." And E'rae didn't either, through the bond, so he guessed it had just been a momentary soreness, not anything major.
"Right," said M'van as he made a note of that. "If you could ask him to extend his wing for me, and I'll just check that there is nothing more serious going on."
Leith heard the man and complied without E'rae having to tell him, but the blue still watched him carefully.
If it hurt, he was bugling and getting the shells out of there.
**You are not. This has to be done. Once it's over, I'll give you a nice rubdown.**
}:Promise?:{
**Of course**
That mollified him, and he remained still after lifting his wing, eyes carefully whirling in M'van's direction.
"Okay Leith," said M'van out loud, for the benefit of all around. "I'm just going to run my fingers down the joint. There doesn't seem to be anything I can see that's wrong, this will just help me verify that."
With those words, the bluerider gently ran his finger down. There didn't seem to be any signs of breakages or swelling that would cause the pain.
"E'rae, has he had any strains in the past?"
"A few during drills. They should all be in his records." And those were because the blue tended to overdo everything to impress the ladies. E'rae was hardput to suppress a groan as he watched Leith take his eyes off of the healer, turning them toward a sunning green.
"I always like to confirm that fact for myself,"
replied M'van. "You're obviously doing a good job caring for him, he's in good health. The joint is sound, it's possible that he may just be overexerting himself at times. If he does complain of pain though, have him come to see me or one of my colleagues and we'll check it out for you."
"Okay sir, thank you." Patting Leith on the shoulder, he once again received his dragon's attention. Happy because he thought this was over, the blue sniffed at E'rae's tunic, nuzzling him slightly. }:Is he done YET?:{
**I think so. I might have to sign something, though.**
The dragonhealer rapidly scribbled a note, "Please give this to your Wingleader." Looking at the shoulder knots worn by the rider, M'van commented, "I'm sure Weyrleader K'sedel will be glad to know that Leith is in perfect health."
E'rae took the slip of hide and nodded. "Thank you."
He didn't know what else to say, really, so he gave Leith the go ahead. The blue turned and once he was in the clear, took off to go after that green. E'rae nodded once more to M'van before heading off
