Description: One of the buildings of the minor Hold begins to catch on fire, threatening holders and the rest of the holding.
Location: Emerald Falls Hold
Date: month 7, day 11 of Turn 5
Notes: Red Rush Hold
It was another normal day around Red Rush Hold, one of the minor holds in Emerald Falls territory. People were rushing to and fro, working hard at their tasks. Women knelt by the wash tubs, scolding errant children. Men collected firewood, splitting logs. Adolescents watched over the livestock, making sure their winter coats kept them warm.
The buildings stood in an oblong cluster. There were five of them, around a central circle. Red Rush was a profitable Holding, producing good crops to bolster the main Hold's foodstuffs and trading surplus. It was rich farming land and the minor Holder in charge, Barric, was proud of it. Now, in the off season, holders had put up dried foodstuffs and canned them for storage to last the winter.
On this day, everything was going well. That is, until a drudge was stoking one of the fires that were used to make pottery and blow glass. An errant spark managed to find its way onto the floor. When a holder walked by soon after, it was pushed farther, into the rushes used to scent the floor. The dry grasses were prime fodder. As the drudge left the room, the small ember turned into a small conflagration. With most of the holders working in the other buildings, none of them noticed the fire until it was too late.
Inside the burning building, there were quarters for crafters and families, as well as the storage for the glass and pottery made. It didn't take long for things to get out of control, though the stone funnelled things through the chimneys and the windows. The wood floors inside, tapestries, furniture, and people were caught up in the quick disaster.
Infants were sleeping inside. Mothers began to run, trying to collect their children and run outside to safety. Crafters had been inside working. Holders rushed in to grab their possessions-heirlooms passed down from father to son for intervals. All of a sudden, chaos reigned. Barric came as soon as he heard. Standing there, he watched as flames started to lick out of the window glass. The buildings nearby stood silently, wondering if they might be next.
