Characters: M'van, U'das
Description: M'van checks on Zackariath and has good news to U'das.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 9, day 22 of Turn 3

M'van watched as the great bronze flew into a smart landing in the weyrbowl in front of him and his rider.

"That looks so much better now," he commented.

"So it does" U'das agreed. "He's been a good boy and followed his rehabilition instructions to the letter."

"With help from you I take it?" asked the bluerider.

"Naturally" U'das laughed. "And watching from ground when someone else flew his queen helped to motivate him too."

"I bet," replied the bluerider. "Can you ask him if he'll let me examine that wing?"

"Sure," U'das said and his eyes glazed when he contacted his bronze.
**Zack, M'van wants to examine your wing. Favour him, will you.**

As an answer, the bronze unfurled his wings soothly, extending them to their full lenght.
}: Tell the healer I'm ready for his examination. :{ "He's ready," U'das repeated.

Stepping closer, M'van reached out to check the wingspan of the dragon.
First he began with the healthy, uninjured wing. The worry had been that it would suffer as the damage heaed in the other, but it seemed to be in perfect shape visually. Continuing by touch, he could feel that the muscles and wingsails were in peefect shape. "That's good," he said.

Moving to the other wing, the signs of the damage were visible, as they always would be, but the musclulature seemed fine, and the damage was obviously healed. "Has he complained about any aches or pains in that wing at all?"

"No, not really. Longer flights still tire him and he's sort of stiff afterwards. Bath and oiling helps at that," U'das replied.

The dragonhealer nodded. "I'll make a note of that. Of course, it will take a while for his stamina to reach the level it had before, just like with a person. The main thing is to take it very steady and continue with the exercise that you have been given."

U'das nodded. "He hasn't tried chasing rising greens yet. I think he is bit overcatious sometimes, not daring to risk it."

"Understandable." The bluerider made notes on a slate, intending to transfer them to hides proper later on. "It looks good here, very good. In fact, I'd be happy to clear him to return to duty."

"That's a happy news" U'das grinned.

"Obviously, the usual warnings stand. Any signs of discomfort, or pain and come straight back to us to get him checked out."

"We're not taking any risks" U'das promised. **Right, mate?**

}: Absolutely right. I want to win Tabanirth's next Flight.:{ U'das chuckled. "He's aiming high, already planning to dethrone Nikonarth."

M'van smiled. "Maybe one day, but let him get used to normal duties yet."

"You tell _him_ that. He can be rather arrogant sometimes," U'das said and gestured towards his bronze.

"I can imagine."

"A common feature in all bronzes. Was there anything else?" the bronze's rider asked.

"Not at the moment," replied the dragonhealer. "If you'd just wait a moment, I'll give you written clearance to return to full duties."

"Thank you, M'van." U'das was grinning like a weyrling after his first flight.

"Just don't let me see him back here other than for routine checkups."

"Trust me, we're going to avoid dragonhealers like plague."

"Except socially I hope."

U'das laughed and slapped the bluerider's back: "Only professionally, only professionally."

"I know," replied M'van with a grin as he scribbled the note. "There you go," he said.

"Thank's," U'das took the note. "See you at the drills."
