Description: Briata brings U'das his clean clothes.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 6, day 9 of Turn 5
Briata knocked upon the door and shifted the bag. It wasn't heavy, just awkward because it was hard to get a good grip on it. It would be getter if she could have had a basket with handles, but evidently the clothes had been brought in a bag, so they were being returned in that same bag. They were one of the Wingleader's and Briata had been asked to deliver them herself, so she was doing so.
"It's open!" U'das called.
The call prompted Briata to opened the door. "Wingleader U'das?" She called out softly. "I've brought you the clothes you sent for mending."
"Thank you, bring them in, you can put them on sofa." U'das replied and peeked his head out of his bathingroom.
A fierce pink coloured Briata's cheeks as she realised _where_ the Wingleader was. She her eyes darted away from the room and she carried the bag over to the sofa where she deposited it. "Is there...anything else you need mended? I can take it down if so."
"No, I don't think so," U'das replied. His head had disappeared back behind the door but his voice carried out clearly.
"Well then sir, if you need anything..." Briata risked a glance and sighed in relief when she saw he had gone back inward. "else, please just let me or one of the other staff known."
"Of course I will," U'das said and came out. He was wearing trousers, but no shirt.
Briata blinked and stared for a moment, not out of any sense of lust, but because she hadn't expected him to come out without a shirt. As soon as she collected herself, she looked away, but the blush returned to colour her cheeks. "Yes sir. Well, I shall let you be."
U'das gave her a closer look. "Aren't you Briata?" he asked.
Briata hadn't taken more than two steps before the question was raised. She glanced back at the Wingleader and nodded slowly. "Yes sir."
"I was at your wedding," U'das remarked. "Quite a change, from Lady Warder to delivering laundry," he continued.
Briata stiffened, not quite sure how to take the comment. "Yes." She glanced toward the door but made no move to go. "Yes it is. Is there anything else I can get for you sir?"
"No, there isn't," U'das replied. She didn't seem eager to talk, and he could understand that. It was probably painful to her.
"Please let us know if there is." Briata bobbed in a short, polite curtsey then turned to go once more. U'das wasn't the first to mention her estrangement from her husband, he wouldn't be the last - though she wished he would be.
U'das felt sorry for, she was currently the favourite topic of Weyr's gossip. From what was basically from Lady Holder to common drudgery. It was just too juicy to pass off. Kindest thing would be just leave her alone and let her do her work in peace.
"Of course," U'das simply replied and nodded.
U'das was rewarded with a small smile and another bob before the young woman fairly fled from the weyr. Briata probably should have been used to the way people looked at her, to the whispers, even to the direct statements and questions regarding it, but that didn't mean she wanted to dwell on the matters. It was bad enough that Ishek was dragging things out for she had yet to receive confirmation of the dissolution of her marriage. The girl sighed as she made her way back down the halls. At least she was keeping busy and that helped kept her from constantly dwelling on her situation. She also had friends who helped lessen the pain. She just hoped that some day it would go away completely.
