Date: month 6, day 5 of Turn 5
As soon as he had gotten the two new runners settled into the stable and dropped off his bags, he went to see the Steward. He had the trading records to give him. Those two new ones seemed promising and came in exchange for the Emerald Falls' runners, part of the prize. New blood would be added to the bloodlines. So he was in a good mood when he knocked on the Steward's office door. "Sarban?"
"Come on in Aivorn," came the reply. Pouring over balance books, Sarban was trying to make sure he had everything current for his meeting with Corowal later in the sevenday.
"I'm back from Pine Creek. Our three settled in well and I got two of theirs here safely with me," Aivorn told him straight away.
"Oh aye, did everything go well then? No problems I trust." Sarban frowned, pulling out the accounts ledger he'd need to update with this particular transaction.
"Naah, it was an easy trip. Relaxing actually, except the overland part from Port Hold to Pine Creek. The Riverboats are used to transport live beasts," Aivorn replied and handed up the rolled hide. "Here's the Pine Creek signed trade agreement."
Sarban took it and read it over, nodding to himself. Satisfied, he tucked it into the ledger, knowing he'd enter it later. "So this new pair..how long is it till you'd like to start breeding them?"
"They are young ones, so I would like to test them in races first, maybe a turn or two, before entering them into the breeding program," Aivorn replied. Breeding runners was a slow and long process.
"Very well. I know you'd like to go get unpacked and cleaned up, but I'd like to see them if that's possible?" Sarban trusted Aivorn, but he had a duty to do an inspection. Best to get it over with.
"Sure, why not?" the beastcraffter replied.
Sarban grabbed his coat, then made his way out with Aivorn. He exchanged pleasantries, nodding to holders as they passed.
The new runners were outside the stable, two stablehands giving them a thorough grooming after the long trip. Aivorn nodded at the lads. "This is Pine Creek's Pride and the red mare is Red Dawn Of Pine Creek," he introduced the animals.
The Steward walked slowly toward them. Being a former seacrafter, Sarban was no great judge of runnerflesh, but he could see these two were in good condition. He observed their behavior for a time. Then, satisfied, he nodded to Aivorn. "Go about your business then and thank you."
"You're welcome, Sarban," Aivorn replied and gave the stallion a pat.
