Location: Amber Hills Hold
Date: month 5, day 22 of Turn 5
Zathris was leaning back on the couch that was in his and Benani's private quarters. She was snuggled up next to him, his arm around her and holding her close. The end of the day had come and it was their time together, to talk about the day, how things were going, or to simply just _be_. Being with Benani made even the worst days seem insignificant. It was always refreshing to spend time with her.
"I received a message from Lord Corowal today." He stated as his hand caressed her shoulder. "I have to admit I wasn't expecting it."
"What was it about?" She asked more out of habit than because she really cared. She'd missed her husband all day, and her main thought was of how wonderful his arms felt around her.
"He is interested in fostering one of his sons with us." Zathris placed a kiss on the top of Benani's head. "He wants to come visit to talk about it in person."
Benani was silent for a moment as she thought about the idea. "Royan's two eldest could use the experience. It would be impolite for Corowal to not except an exchange."
"Would Royan wish this for his sons?" Zathris had been mulling over that idea himself, but he hadn't approached his brother about it.
"I think so. Kerel will be walking the tables soon and will have more time to spend learning Hold managing. He's of age to marry as well so a union with one of their blood will be good for both our Holds." Royan's boys had taken up Beastcrafting like their father had to supplement their knowledge as stewarding hadn't interested either. They were still of the blood though and were in line for inheritance since her and Zathris didn't as yet have children.
Zathris pondered. What she said made sense but...well, Zathris was a bit more relaxed in certain areas than some. "What of Kerel? Would Kerel want this? We should speak to him first." He didn't want to force them to do anything they didn't want - even if they were in the line. "I will speak with both tomorrow. I guess that means you have no problem with the idea of fostering one."
Benani gave a small shake of her head. "Of course not. It's bad politics to refuse a request. And if none of Royan's want to go, then there are plenty of others in the family that we can send who aren't crafting." It didn't even enter her mind to argue the 'asking' part. Zathris was always fair and reasonable about such things, he'd never force anyone and she'd never expected that he would.
"Fostering is a good idea." How old would his children be when they decided to foster? It was impossible to say. Zathris placed another kiss on the top of her forehead. "I shall make arrangements to have him come over and discuss the details."
"Could you ask for D'veret to do the ferrying?" The young brownrider hadn't had watch duty at the Hold in almost a month, and she knew that his mother was quite worried about him.
"I can certainly ask, though I don't know if that request will be fulfilled." Zathris stretched then drew Benani closer to him. "We should away ourselves to bed."
Benani hugged herself to his arms and then unwound herself so she could stand up. "Sounds like a great idea to me."
"I haven't properly ravished you today." Zathris stood and moved behind Benani, placed his hands upon her shoulders and guided her toward the bedroom. "I think that should be remedied."
She giggled. "You have been neglecting me."
"Let's fix that shall we?" Zathris led her into the bedroom and closed the door behind them.
