"Sir?" J'ren stepped into the office and held out a couple of pieces of parchment. "Reports for the last Fall."

"Thank's J'ren, drop them on the desk. Good that you're here. Since it's beginning of a month again, we should go thru the wing's schedule and see if this month's bringing any changes," U'das said and gestured his 'second to take a seat.

"Actually, sir, I've made some notes regarding that." J'ren shifted the parchment and brought the last page to the top. "These are my suggestions here. The second shift has suffered enough losses to make it a little too light. The first shift could spare some dragon power, and these are the riders I thought would do well." They were only suggestions, of course - U'das had final say on any changes to the wing.

"I was thinking almost same thing," U'das chuckled. "Except I like to keep Y'kas where he is. We are also doing sweeps on second sevenday, so we need to reschedule that sevenday's drill."

"That shouldn't be too hard to shuffle around." They'd done it before and there was always a backup schedule in case there was need. J'ren pondered a moment, then stated, "What about R'masu instead of Y'kas?"

U'das studied the wing's composition and nodded. "That should work out fine."

"Good. Is there anything else you see that should be changed?"

"I believe our new Weyrwoman had some plans for longer restday for the weyr.

I haven't checked yet how it affects our wing's schedule, " U'das said.

"After the hatching?" Having more than one day for a rest would be good, and not just for J'ren. "Not going to complain about that. I did wish to speak to you about Teykara though, sir, if we might change the subject a bit."

"Oh, what about her?" U'das asked, gesturing him to continue.

"Well, as you see on the list, I've moved her to the second shift with her sister. I went to ask her whether or not she would have a problem being in the same shift. We got into a discussion about it and she became rather disrespectful." J'ren would simply take care of it himself, but he felt that any disciplinary measures should go through U'das first.

"How disrespectful she was?" U'das asked.

"She mentioned how she wasn't looking forward to flying the second half of fall. I mentioned that flying only half a Threadfall would be like a vacation to me." J'ren was feeling very much like a tattle tale, but Tey's attitude had really grated on him. He wasn't a hard man, rather laid back, but something about the way she had said it rankled him. He didn't take kindly to lack of respect. "She then suggested in a rather disrespectful tone that I lead the second half greens into a Fall and see how vacation like it was to wait and watch all the dragons and riders returning injured. She was quite insolent."

U'das sighed. "I shall talk with her," he promised. "I just hope that will be enough. Next step would be more of those night watches we all so love."

"I've asked her to come see me in the morning." J'ren stated, "Thought she could help me with some hidework. I think she could benefit from some night watches as well."

"Hidework huh?" U'das asked and grinned. "That is down right wicked."

"It will keep her busy and maybe give her an appreciation for the behind the scenes work involved." J'ren shrugged. Maybe, maybe not. It was a punishment and wouldn't be looked upon as anything else. She would either hate him more for it or come to some sort of appreciation for his position. Who knew? "Regardless, it will hopefully mean getting caught up more quickly on hidework."

"Which means it is going to pile on my desk," U'das replied and rolled his eyes dramatically.

"Then we can move her to duty with you." J'ren suggested without hesitation. "It will get you caught up and then piled it upon the Weyrleader's desk."

"Keep it rolling upwards," U'das chuckled.

"Maybe she'll have a little more respect." J'ren hoped so.

"I hope so," U'das grunted.
