Description: Uetia reports in to K'sedel and U'das after warning some holds about the approaching storm.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 3, day 7 of Turn 5
Notes: Happens about the same time with 'The Storm Warning'
The strong wind battered Sirjath and she struggled to land in some
sort of controlled fashion. Uetia gripped the neck ridge and prayed
the the wind didn't damage her lifemate's large wings. Sirjath growled
in defiance and strained against the wind which tried to toss her
against the weyr bluff. Luckily she was a strong green. Finally she
managed to land safely and fold in her vunerable wings. **You all
right? You didn't strain anything or pull a muscle?** Uetia asked with
worried tone when she opened the straps and dismounted.
}: No, I'm fine. Wouldn't want to do that again though, :{ The green
replied.
Uetia spent few minutes of scratching Sirjath's eyeridge and assuring
herself that she really was fine. Then she went to find the Wingsecond
to report in. She found him in discussion with uncle U'das. "Sirs,"
she said to catch their attention and waited to be aknowledged.
"Greenrider," said K'sedel after a moment.
"I've back from warning the coastal holds of the approaching storm,"
Uetia said.
"You seem to had difficulties," U'das noted.
"Yes, the wind is getting too strong to us."
"I see," K'sedel said. "You've done well. I think it could be time for us to
ground people if the wind is starting to get too strong for dragons to be in
the air."
"I stopped in one of the sea holds to have a chat with the local
dolphin pod," Uetia said.
"What did the dolphins say?" U'das asked curiously.
"Bad, bad, baad blow," Uetia replied in fairly good imitation of the
dolphins squeaky voice.
"They've found somewhere safe to shelter?" K'sedel had to admit to not
knowing much about Dolphins and their habits.
"Yes, they are heading out, to the deeper, calmer water," Uetia replied.
"I think we'll have to ground the wings then, and encourage people to take
shelter."
"Well, I'm going to ground the Torrent wing," U'das said. His eyes
glazed when he contacted his bronze.
}: Zack, contact all our wingmembers and informed they are grounded
because of the wind. Tell all the riders that are out of weyr to
return immediately. :{
He waited moment until he sensed Zackariath to reach out to talk with
the other dragons.
"Done," he said.
"I've had Nikornath do the same, K'reyel won't mind once he knows what the
weather conditions are like now."
U'das nodded. As he would trust his 'seconds judgement, if he wasn't
round to do the decision.
"With luck, this will pass in a few candlemarks."
"With luck, it will hit us right on," Uetia snorted pessimistically.
"You're gloomy, " his uncle chided.
"Have you tried to fly in that?"
U'das shook his head, and rather not try it either. He wouldn't want
to risk Zack's wings. The scored wing was still weaker than the other
and would always be.
"Nobody should even try it," K'sedel said. "It isn't worth the risk to any
of us."
"Well, if you gentlemen excuse me, and if I'm not needed, I'll rather
go somewhere warm with klah," Uetia said.
"Go," K'sedel told her. "I think you've earned it."
"Thank you," Uetia nodded.
"I think I join you," U'das said to his niece. "Nothing much to do
until it's over."
