Theyzen sighed as he opened the door, tired from his first day of work, but pleased with himself. His golden canine True burst through the door ahead of him and ran straight for the feet of the woman sitting with the baby in her lap. "Good evening Vanora."
"Hello, love." She got up with the baby and kissed her husband on the cheek. "How was your day?"
"It was good, thanks," he replied, smiling at her happy welcome. "And your day?"
"I don't really know. Between chasing around the canine, cleaning up after the baby, and upacking our things most of it slipped between my fingers. But, I suppose I did get a lot done. Take a look around and let me know if everything suites you so far."
"Oh, I'm sure it's perfect." He glanced around the room. Yes, it looked just fine. Theyzen was not picky really. He just wanted to be comfortable, and it seemed he could be comfortable in this place as well as he could be in their last home. "It looks fine," he nodded. "Good..." Having run out of things to say, Vanora refocused her attention on the baby. "It's late. I think I'll put our little love down for the evening."
"I'll put him down," Theyzen quickly offered, rather disappointed that the time had come so soon. His favorite part of the day was time spent with his baby boy.
"All right then." Vanora passed the small, warm bundle to her husband and followed him to the crib - he may have been a father for a few months now, but she still liked to watch over his shoulder.
"Oh, you look so sleepy, Thevan," Theyzen said with a loving smile as he looked down at his son's tired face. "What were you doing today while I was away that made you so sleepy, huh?"
"He played all day like a good little boy, but his mother is still rather worn out." She leaned gently against Theyzen's shoulder.
Her husband looked down at her with an almost apologetic smile. "Long day today, huh? You can sleep early. If dinner is ready I don't mind eating alone."
"No, I'll stay up with you." She kissed him softly. "Thank you, though."
His lips tingled when they parted. Shards but it had been a long time since he had really touched Vanora. Not since they had learned she was pregnant with Thevan, in fact. He remembered that the healers had told him it would be a while after the boy was born before her body was healed, and something about her body's chemicals needing to return to normal, but just how long would it be? She was being so... friendly lately, and it was so hard not to respond to her. But he couldn't just _ask_ her! What if she said no? What if she said yes just because she thought she _shouldn't_ say no? But maybe... maybe another kiss? He took a breath and was just starting to lean in when the little bundle in his arm began to protest to the lack of attention.
Theyzen turned back to the baby guiltily. "You waking up, Thevan? But you've had a long day, little man! You should be so tired!" He cradled the baby against his shoulder as he spoke softly to him.
Vanora could tell what Theyzen was after and she couldn't say that the same idea wasn't in the back of her mind. But she was still so timid! No proper wife would just out and out say what she wanted - that kind of thing just didn't happen! She had hoped that the kiss would be enough of a suggestion, but, as usual, Theyzen was proving difficult to get through to. Maybe she could...try again.
"He'll fall asleep as soon as he lays down. And, even if he doesn't, there aren't any dishes that need heating for dinner tonight, so there's no real rush..." She knew it was a reach but it was as close to actually talking to Theyzen about love making as she'd ever get.
It was not that her husband didn't _want_ to take the hint. He just really didn't know Vanora well enough to catch such a subtle suggestion.
While he could have highly intelligent conversations with his peers, his communication skills with women were seriously lacking - especially, it seemed, with the woman he shared a home with. "Don't worry. I'll stay with him until he sleeps. I don't have to eat right away."
"All right, then." Vanora did her best to smile. "I'll set out our things for dinner so we can eat as soon as he's down." With a kiss on her husband's cheek, she went to finish preparing dinner.
