Kapera

Kapera

The knock on the door surprised Kapera. She'd been reading- or trying to
read anyway- before going to sleep, but instead she just kept thinking
about her family. Turn's End was coming, and it had sparked up
thoughts of her family, thoughts she _really_ didn't want inside her
head. So she was grateful for the distraction, whoever it might be.

She stood up and pulled her robe around her before walking to the door.
Opening it, she paused in surprise. "U'kaiah? Hi, come in." She hadn't
been expecting him; he didn't usually come to her.

"I hope you don't mind. Your lifemate told mine you were still awake."
He had been relieved to hear that she was not only awake but alone.
U'kaiah needed a little something to take the edge off another long
night when he should be going to Dolphins Cove but instead was looking
at the prospect of having his large cold bed to himself. Kapera seemed
like the perfect cure. "Feel like some company tonight?"

"I would never turn you down." she assured him, pushing away any twinge
of doubt about that. There was no one serious in her life, so she could
spend as much time with U'kaiah as she liked. And she wasn't going to
push him by asking anything. No, he probably wanted uncomplicated
company- and so did she. "Want a drink?"

"No," he said gently pressing her into the door as she closed it behind
him. The bronzerider had already had plenty to drink. "I want to get
this robe off of you."

To the point and direct. She liked that. "Sounds like a plan." she said
huskily, leaning up to kiss him.

He pulled at the ties of her robe as he pulled her back towards her
sleeping room. U'kaiah had chosen Kapera for more than just the
knowledge that she would be up to handle his mood tonight, but deep down
there was a much darker reason for wanting her and not some greenrider -
revenge.
Wouldn't Trae just burn to see him hungering after another goldrider in
this way. And Dragonfall's Weyrwoman to boot! Wouldn't she just writhe
in jealousy if she could see him slipping her out of her clothes, laying
her back on the bed, claiming every inch of her body with his lips and
his hands. Would she burn? Would she even care? He didn't know, but
the thought that she might just spurned him on.

Kapera didn't know what was running through his mind, but she wouldn't
have cared anyway. He was intense, he was needy, and it stirred
answering passions in her. When they reached the room she stopped long
enough to let the robe fall from her shoulders before pressing herself
against him again, letting her quick response speak.

As he laid the goldrider down on the bed, he couldn't help but wondering
if Trae was rolling in the sheets with her brownrider at this very
moment. Was she whimpering his name? Digging her fingers into his
hair? Into his back? The thought that she might be with another man
didn't bother him half as much as some of the other mental images that
flashed through his brain as he pulled off his own shirt and guided
Kapera's hands to his belt.

He could see Trae's fingers burying themselves in that flaming red hair
as she turned her face to whisper three painful little words into his
sharding ear - 'I love you' - words she had _never_ said to him. In all
the time they had been together, the first time he had ever heard her
speak of love was in the Stands and were directed towards another man,
and that more than anything wrenched his gut as he slipped his pants
past his hips and pulled the goldrider against him hungrily once more.

Kapera didn't resist the invitation and undid his belt. As U'kaiah shed
his pants she let her hands wander down there to touch him. Her other
hand reached up to his back, running her hand down it, encouraging him
onward She started kissing his skin wherever she could reach it, urging
him on. She couldn't remember him being this decisive, this inflamed
before, and it was amazing how she responded to it. There was no need to
think about anything unpleasant when this was here.

What right had Trae had to expect him to leave his life, his home, just
to share her bed? He loved her, but he loved Dragonsfall too. He loved
the people, the stone cliffs, the hot and the cold... What had he been
thinking, chasing after more than this? Kapera was his Weyrwoman, the
one they all longed for, that they all vied to possess. She was the
center, the heart of the Weyr he loved. It was his duty to put her
desires above his own, to fulfill her every need. As he laid her back
into the soft mattress he was determined to prove his worth to her, to
prove his loyalty. This was his world, right here, and this was his
Weyrwoman. Let that brownrider chase after dreams. U'kaiah was a
Wingleader of Dragonsfall, and in his Weyrwoman's arms, he was home.

At least for tonight.
