Uitgaandth circled the Weyr easily, the exertions of fighting a full fall
not
showing as he glided along, catching the thermals and the currents of the
breeze coming off the ocean and climbing the face of the Weyr.
Reaching forward, C'pouk slapped the beast on the neck. "How you doing
big guy?"
}:I am strong, there are others who need to land before me:{
The brownrider stroked his lifemate's neck again. For the most part
Uitgaandth
was an easy going dragon with only a few personality quirks. However, the
one that he would not relent on was his after Fall bath. He just refused to
go
to his weyr smelling of flame and char.
}:There:{ the brown said as he folded his wings and dove for the lake shore.
When he landed, tucking his wings to his side, Uitgaandth kneeled to allow
C'pouk to dismount. Jumping to the sand, he came up next to one of his
wingmates.
"E'rae," he said. "You flew well today."
The bluerider had already made sure Leith had been unloaded. They'd escaped
without any injuries, major or minor, this time. Thanking Faranth quietly,
he
began to pull his boots off. He planned to just sit for a bit, taking it all
in and
thinking over what had happened during the fall. Before he sat down,
however,
he heard the other voice. Shifting his attention, he focused on C'pouk. "Aye
thanks. You didn't do so bad yourself."
"I had some close ones," C'pouk admitted. "Luckily for me Uitgaandth can be
quite nimble for his size. I think he gets that from chasing so many
greens."
"Leith's problem has never been agility." Of course the blue's lack of
stamina
also meant they didn't have to ride Fall as long as others did. E'rae
shifted his
weight, looking at the Star Stones and the Red Star between them.
"No, I bet not," C'pouk said, patting the blue on the snout. "I've watched
the
two of you, and am amazed that you can keep your seat sometimes."
"Well straps are there for a reason I guess." It went without saying that he
checked and double checked his before going up. "So I heard one of the
other wings lost a young bronze." He bit his lip, knowing how hard that was.
"Yeah," C'pouk said, softly. "He wasn't even fighting, he was bringing sacks
of firestone to the fighting wings."
E'rae gave one last silent moment for the fallen rider then nodded to
himself.
"Well, I'm off to fill my belly. Nothing like a near-death experience to
make one
hungry."
"I'll be along shortly," C'pouk said. "As soon as I finish bathing this
beast."
"Aye sure." E'rae took his leave and disappeared in the direction of the
dining
caverns.
