Helvalla had finished tucking in the children - making sure each was clean and comfortable before joining her husband in the sitting room. "The boys are finally asleep and Helan just laid down." She sighed, quite tired from the days work. "So, dear, how are you on this fine night?"

"Almost ready for sleep myself, the hidework can be more tiring than the patients themselves," remarked her husband as he settled himself on the couch. "But we need to do it, to keep all those records on the people we treat for the future."

Slowly sinking into the couch next to Miranek, Helvalla leaned into him a bit. "Anything planned for tomorrow?" She asked. "I'm hoping my day won't be so busy." She laid her hand gently on her husbands chest, cuddling into him more.

His arm went around her, "I'm on a late shift, so I'll miss dinner with you, but we'll have some time for ourselves once the boys have gone to Harper Classes, and I'm sure we can find Helan something to do."

"There are a few errands to run. I can have Helan do them for me. I know she'd like to get out for a bit." Helvalla agreed. Closing her eyes, she relaxed against Miranek's warmth, suddenly getting a bit sleepy.

"What do you think she'll decide?" mused Miranek. "She knows that she could be fostered somewhere if she wants that."

"Knowing our daughter... she'd want to be Apprenticed somewhere that will take women." Helvalla sighed. "Although I'm not sure she'd be brave enough for that. She seems content here, but that might be too far out of her element." Sitting up, she looked at her husband, shrugging. "As her mother, a part of me wishes she'd find some nice boy to settle down with." Helvalla knew her motherly wants wasn't what drive her daughter into anything. Helan needed to make the decision on her own.

"Apprenticing? Depends on what she chooses. Maybe the Harpers perhaps.
That's not an unresaonable choice."

Helvalla stood up and stretched, her hands brushing her hair out of her face. "I wouldn't mind a Harper daughter. She does have a beautiful voice and I'm sure she'd play the gitar beautifully." Stifling back a yawn, she held out her hand for Miranek. "Would you like to head to bed, dear?"

"I think that might be a very good idea," he answered as he got to his feet and took her hand.

Smiling, she led him into their bedroom which they had shared for many turns. And every night it was the place they could unwind and forget about the craziness of their days and relax with one another. In the far corner of the room Helvalla could see the slight outline of Brownie's small body as he slept in the little cot she had made for him. "Seems Brownie found his way home just in time to go to bed too." The small brown firelizard always brought a smile to Helvalla's lips.

"Looks like he did," Miranek smiled too. All their family was home and together, but for how much longer would that be the case.

Helvalla changed her outfit for sleeping and sat down on the bed they shared. She could tell Miranek was thinking about something and she gave him a quizzical look as if him asking what it was.

"Okay, you know me too well," he said. "I know she has to grow up, but I'm her father and I'd like her to be near."

Patting the bed, Helvalla motioned for him to sit next to her. "I think that too, dear." She sighed. "Our baby is growing up too fast. Much too fast."

"They all are," he said as he sat next to her, removing his shirt as he did so. "Seems only yesterday that Helan was our only one."

She nodded, her hand running up his bare back. "I know. I remember the day we found out we were expecting her like it was yesterday." Helvalla smiled.
"I'll remember the look on your face for the rest of our lives."

"I remember when you told me each of the boys were on their way too," he smiled at her. "Made our lives all the more interesting."

"I agree, dear." Helvalla leaned her head on Miranek's shoulder, her hand finding his and intertwining with his fingers. "We truly are lucky." Lucky on so many levels, she thought to herself. It bothered her when she saw so many couples who didn't get along, didn't even like each other. She liked to think she was the closest to her husband; that they were best friends.

"How lucky do you want to be tonight?" he asked her as he moved slightly to look at her, to see her face.

Helvalla's cheeks flushed a rosy pink. Her husbands advances always brought color to her face, but it was always welcomed. The way he'd asked her made her curious, but she pushed the passing thoughts to the back of her. "You know I could never decline you."

"Nor could I decline you."
