Kapera

Kapera

After the nightmares of the night before, Kapera hadn't wanted to risk losing all her sleep again. As a result, she'd been very diligent about doing her hidework, taking lunch in her office so that she didn't have to get up and leave- or run into anyone, and be tempted not to work.
Then there'd been afternoon drills of the Queen's Wing, followed by bathing and oiling Riyanth. When she was done with that, she decided a bath for herself would be nice. Rather than take advantage of the private bathing room in her weyr, though, she decided to use a public one. Not just any public one, but one of the ones in a less currently inhabited section of the weyr. Since fewer riders lived here and bathed here day in and day out, the bathing pools here tended to be used by people slipping away for intimate moments. Maybe she'd surprise someone attractive here, and if she didn't, then she could just go hunting later. Either way, she could start to relax.

No one was in the pool yet when she arrived, so the goldrider stripped down, lay her clothes by the side of the pool, and entered it, basking in the warm water.

Ripples lapped against her chest as someone slipped into the water across from her. "Am I disturbing you?"

"Not at all." she answered, opening her eyes to see who'd joined her, hoping it would be someone attractive and not weyrmated. She'd made that mistake two nights ago.

S'rin grinned rakishly at her as he settled into the bathing pool opposite to where she sat. His gaze was frankly assessing - if she'd wanted a private bath, she had her own weyr to retreat to. And he'd always wondered what, exactly, was hidden by those fetching green tunics of hers... hidden now by the shifting reflections off the water's surface. "I never realized how long your hair is."

He was attractive, and she didn't think she'd seen him with the same woman too many times. A brownrider if she recalled right, and she liked the color of his eyes. "It takes quite the work to keep it under control for my duties, but it's one of the luxuries I permit myself." she answered in a tone that indicated it wasn't the only one.

"You don't permit yourself _all_ of them?" he inquired delicately.

"There are some that wouldn't be advised. After all, if I ate too much, I wouldn't look like a goldrider _should_." she answered. "But yes, there are others I enjoy."

S'rin raised a bushy eyebrow. "If I may say so, you _certainly_ look like the goldriders that songs are sung about. And from what I've _seen_
you act like them too..."

She preened under the compliment to her appearance. "I must live up to my predecessors." she replied.

"Well, you're much prettier than Corvera, and I'll bet that your successor will have a sharding tough time living up to your standards,"
he said.

She smiled. Maybe it was overt flattery, but she never complained about getting compliments. "Let's hope a successor is far in the future. I wouldn't want any challengers."

"You wouldn't get any serious ones, anyway," S'rin said, projecting as much honesty as he could manage into his voice. "And I can only hope that you won't be leaving us any time soon? I've barely begun to get to know you,"

"That seems a pity." Kapera replied. "It seems as though I've been missing out."

S'rin smiled as slick a smile as he could manage. "I think we both have... and perhaps that's why you're venturing from the privacy of your weyr to bathe?"

"You read my mind." she confirmed. "I thought that my weyr was _too_
empty. All that space isn't always good for you." She tried to make it sound promising, rather than reveal it was the closest to honest admission she'd probably ever make to someone she didn't know well.

S'rin raised an eyebrow. "Not fond of being alone, then, are you? Maybe that big pool of yours just needs a little company to make it less spacious..."

"That's why I'm here looking. I can't just expect it to stroll into my room unexpectedly." Although it would be nice if a man showed up unexpectedly and unclothed. Not that it was hard to come out and find one; they came willingly. S'rin certainly seemed to be.

The brownrider grinned. "Is that an invitation? Because if it is, I'd be happy to oblige."

"I wouldn't mind if you obliged."

"Well, that's good..." S'rin moved slowly to Kapera's side of the pool.
The water lapped at her breast in an interesting fashion, and he found himself momentarily distracted by the beads of water that clung to her skin. "...because I can't stand people who whine and then never do anything about it. Especially when I'm a very obliging sort of person, and _very_ willing to help a woman in distress - such as yourself."

"I like obliging people." She couldn't help but admire his profile. He was certainly one of the nicest-looking brownriders she'd ever met.

"Then we're going to get on real well," S'rin said. He slipped his hands slowly up along Kapera's arms to tangle gently in the hair at the nape of her neck, and he pulled her in for a long, slow kiss. Her breasts pressed softly against his chest and she tasted like sugar and klah. "Oh yeah," he said after a moment, "We're going to get on _real_ well."
