"Excuse me, Weyrwoman," M'galec said as he walked into her office. "I am M'galec, bronze Dwarkanath's rider and new Weyrlingmaster Second. I believe you wanted to see me."

Tsaera stood to shake the brozerider's hand across the desk. "It's good to meet you, M'galec. I trust that you're settling in well?"

"Yes, thank you. Everyone has been most kind," he replied as he shook her hand firmly. "I must admit, though. River Bluff is a bit warmer this time of year than I had expected."

The Weyrwoman's lips twisted into a wry grin. "You'll get used to the heat. The humidity'll take a bit longer. Take a seat,"

"Thank you." The bronzerider tugged at his collar a bit as he sat down across from her, her comment about humidity reminding him just how muggy it was. "Your weyr. Is it sufficient? Do you need anything else?" The Headwoman was thoughtful, but it was impossible to predict some riders' quirks. "Some lighter shirts, it seems," M'galec smiled. "I just brought the clothes I wore before. I didn't think ahead to the weather, it seems."

"I'll let you do that yourself, then," Tsaera replied. "I've been called a lot of things, but never fashion-forward."

M'galec smiled. "It's good to know your own talents and weaknesses."

"How are you and J'an getting on with the weyrlings?"

"The weyrlings are good. They have been well trained and they are well behaved, for the most part." They had their moments when they would act like children, but as his bronze often had to remind them, most of them still _were_ children and would grow up soon enough.

Tsaera smiled and steepled her fingers. "And you and J'an?"

The bronzerider shrugged. "Well, we don't _always_ agree on the best way a weyrling should be trained, but what Second always agrees with their Wingleader all the time?"

"But you do you think that you'll be able to work together?"

"Of course, Weyrwoman. I may not always agree, but I understand that I am _his_ Second and I will do my duty by him." M'galec had always respected rank both in the wings and in the infirmary. It never stopped him from his own opinion, and usually he was proved right. The Werylingmaster Second was confident that J'an would come to understand the value of his advice.

"J'an has been teaching here for a while, now, and he's done well by us. I envy you, you know," she said, abruptly switching topics.

"Envy me, Weyrwoman?"

"You're able to practice your Craft. I envy that. There isn't enough time for me to actively pursue my Craft and run a Weyr, although I'd dearly wish to. I miss it."

M'galec was surprised that Weyrwoman was herself a crafter. "What craft might that be?"

"Miner. I was a surveyor and prospector, and I earned my Mastery right before I became Lady Weyrholder, but even then I was able to practice my Craft... a little." She sighed, a little wistfully. "I miss it."

"A master craftsman and a Weyrwoman?" M'galec was impressed. "Well, the ability to survey from the air would have helped in your craft, I'm sure."

The Weyrwoman snorted. "You have no idea. _No_ idea. While I don't mind walking, wading through prickly brush for hours on end isn't as much fun as it's cracked up to be, and being able to return home at the end of the day is even better. Although the downside is that you miss everything but the most obvious outcroppings from the air, and not everywhere is clear enough for Tabanirth to land. Your Craft is a lot more practical for a Pass, however. I assume that you've spoken to our Infirmary?"

"Yes ma'am. I'm already in rotation and I will be working in the surgery on Threadfall days." It was his whole reason for leaving the main fighting wings after all - to be able to practice his craft when it was most needed. "Master Abrei runs a very efficient infirmary."

"Yes, she does." He hadn't volunteered information on his impression of J'an. "She and her crew have patched us all up very nicely, and I'm sure that you'll do the same. Now. Is there anything else you'd like to add?"

"No ma'am, other than I look forward to working with you in the future."

"As will I." Tsaera smiled. "Welcome to River Bluff Weyr."
