}:Nikornath's wishes to see us when we are done.:{ Usaeth relayed faithfully. R'syl glanced up at his lifemate, sunning himself from a nearby ridge as he lectured the junior weyrlings.
**Tell him that I will be there when class is over.** R'syl agreed, returning to the lecture without a pause.

R'syl knocked on the Weyrleader's office door, wondering what the meeting was about. Probably something routine, as he couldn't think of anything else that needed his attention.
"Come!" called the Weyrleader.
The weyrlingmaster entered, giving the Weyrleader a respectful nod and closing the door behind him. "You wished to see me?"
"Yes, take a seat." K'sedel gestured to a seat on the other side of his desk.
R'syl settled himself into the chair, raising an eyebrow. "May I ask what you needed to see me for?" He asked politely, wanting to get it over with.
Not that he didn't like the Weyrleader. He just didn't like being away from the weyrlings too long during the day. Someone always found trouble.
"I take it you heard about the gold egg on the sands?" said K'sedel coming straight to the point.
R'syl nodded, relaxing a bit now that he knew what the meeting was about.
"Yes. I think everyone has by now."
"This means that there are going to be an awful lot of interest in the eggs, and also more attention than normal on this next class. We need to talk about how to handle it."
"I understand, sir." R'syl sighed. "The extra spectators could certainly pose a problem. They distract the weyrlings and get in the way."
"We're not going to let anybody see the eggs until Lenala and Vilarth agree, which should help."
"A little." R'syl agreed. "But I'm more concerned about after the Hatching. Young golds are rare even for weyrfolk, and there will be a lot of people who will want to watch her train." **And comment on what I'm doing wrong.** He added silently. This was going to be interesting. He'd never had a gold in one of his classes before, although he had all the information necessary to train one in their special duties in his office.
"That I can do something about. I'll speak to the Headwoman about having her address the candidates and lower caverns workers on the subject, I'll speak to my wing, and I'll make sure that U'das speaks to his riders."
R'syl inclined his head. "I appreciate that sir. Can I assume that the other weyrwomen will be taking some part in training the new queenrider in her duties?" If so, he would need to coordinate with them as soon as possible, to know exactly how much they intended to work with the girl
-whoever it may be.
"They will, but for the first month or so she'll be a regular weyrling with no more privileges than the rest of them, unless she earns them."
R'syl nodded, a slight smile crossing his face. "That will be best, I think. I assume I need to speak directly to the weyrwoman about the new queenrider's training? It will be best to organize things now, while we still have some breathing space, rather than later when we have a young gold on our hands."
"I'm sure that Tsaera will be more than happy to speak to you about this."
"I'll see if I can meet with her soon, then." R'syl agreed, relaxing a bit more. This was all workable. Of course, there would be things that went wrong, there always were. But he could prepare for most of them. "I can't think of any other concerns I have at the moment. Do you have any suggestions?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Remember that she's just another weyrling at first."
He chuckled softly. "That's one thing I'm not worried about." He admitted, a distant look in his eyes. "They're all children at first, learning how the world of a dragonrider works. Learning to walk before they can fly, so to speak."
"Unlike children though, Dragons are born talking. Imagine how much easier babies would be if they could tell you things straight off."
K'sedel had wandered from the subject slightly, but perhaps they had gone as far as they could with it.
"Would it be easier?" R'syl asked. "Having a baby screaming that they just want to scream, but might quiet down if you hold them, but might not?" He tried to let the weyrleader's words roll off him, but he was reminded painfully of his own headstrong children.
K'sedel laughed. R'syl would do just fine with the new Weyrlings, he was sure of it.
