"Where's the healer?" Wesit asked as he sat up slightly. The movement made him wince a bit.
"Right here." Riveenata said, approaching him. "I'm Journeywoman Riveenata." she introduced herself.
"You can't be my healer," the candidate groaned, laying back down.
"You're too beautiful to be my healer. I'm never that lucky. Send in the old croan."
She couldn't help but smile at the praise. "I suppose I could find someone like Master Merida if you'd prefer I not stick around."
"Oh, well, you're already here... And I might not last until someone else gets here." He rubbed at his lower stomach, hoping to ease the pain a bit. "Save me, beautiful maiden, for I fear I am dying."
"What's the problem?" Riveenata asked.
"I haven't been feeling well all day. I feel like I have a fever and I've thrown up twice. And I have this annoying pain down low on my stomach." He pointed to the place he had been rubbing.
"A fever and vomiting?" She wondered if it was a stomach flu. There had been a few stomach flus around lately. "Is anyone sick you've been in contact with lately?"
"Well, I still live in the candidate baracks. If anyone's sick we're all exposed." He studied her face carefully. "Did you ever live in the candidate barracks?"
"Until I made journeywoman, which is when I stopped being a candidate.
Someone's sick there?" she told him.
Wesit shrugged a shoulder. "It's hard to tell. Seems someone's always got something. There's so many of us, and then we had the Dragonsfall people around until the Hatching too. When did you stop being a candidate?"
"A few months ago. Decided dragonriding wasn't for me." she explained.
"Any other symptoms?"
"I don't think so," he said with a quick shake of his head. "Then you must have stood at the last Hatching? I was Searched just a few days before. Maybe that's why I recognize you."
"That would explain it." she said. "Did your symptoms start today, or before?"
"Today, I think."
Sudden onset, vomiting, fever- it did sound like a stomach upset. "It's a stomach bug. I can get you something for the stomach and then you can come back if it gets worse."
"Can I come back even if it doesn't?" he asked with a roguish smile.
She couldn't help but smile. He was cute and friendly. "Sure," she said impulsively. "My shifts are usually over right around dinnertime's end."
"Well, then, if I'm feeling up to it, perhaps I ought to come back around dinnertime's end," Wesit said with a small wink.
"That would be fine." she said. "Now, willowsalic for the fever and mint tea for the stomach, and you should be okay." She hurried off to prepare the herbs and then brought them back for him. "Drink one cup of the tea now, one cup for later tonight. The willowsalic now, and if that doesn't fix the fever, come back."
"All right." The candidate let out a groan as he sat up again. "If I have to come back should I ask for you?"
"Yes, if you'd like, but I'll be putting your information in a file so that if I'm not here someone can still help you."
Wesit winced once more as his feet touched the ground. "And if I ask for the beautiful healing maiden everyone will know who I mean?"
"I'm afraid not. I think you'll have to mention me by name."
"And that would be?" he asked, his voice strained slightly as he reached up to rub the painful spot. Shards, he hoped that tea would work!
"Riveenata." she said. Noticing his attention, she spoke again. "The sooner you take it, the sooner it'll stop hurting." she said lightly.
"Then I shall take it right away," he nodded. "And just for your Records, my name is Wesit. I'm a candidate and journeyman dolphineer from Jade Harbor Hold. I specialized in salvage and rescue, and if I weren't here right now I'd probably on a ship looking for sunken riches, since I'm a bit of an adventurer at heart. I like to play cards now and then but I don't drink, and I don't come on to every woman I see.
That's just for the Record."
She smiled widely as she took down the information. Dolphineer- that would explain the muscle tone. Not drinking she marked down. The part about not coming onto every woman made her chuckle to herself. He was a very nice person to be around. "Thank you Wesit." she said. "I hope it clears up, by the way."
"And also for the Record, you can just call me Wes," he smiled, though painfully, as he hobbled off to find that blessed tea.
"No problem, Wes." she said.
