Kapera

Kapera

Kapera was done with the majority of her daily work, so she was heading toward the Dining Cavern, intent on getting food. The goldrider had always had the ability to order into her office so as not to interrupt her work, but she wasn't that dedicated. Besides, that would mean a lonely dinner. It made her feel disconnected to eat alone- it reminded her of being back at the Hold again, preferring to eat alone than with her family. She'd much rather have company. Especially if it was handsome company.

After getting her meal, she scanned the crowd. She didn't like to sit at a specific table when she could just blend in with the group, as much as the Weyrwoman could blend in. People usually didn't speak to her about work, which relieved her- at least mealtimes were peaceful. There were a few people sitting alone. She walked over to an interesting prospect.
"Are you expecting anyone?" she asked the bronzerider.

The wingleader looked up from his tray, rather intrigued to find Kapera standing over him. "Just a lovely lady to distract me from my lonely meal." He gave her a cocky bronzerider grin. "A Weyrwoman would do."

"I'm happy to be of service." Kapera replied, taking a seat. "Though I hope I would more than merely do."

U'kaiah chuckled as he reached for the nearby pitcher. "Only time will tell. Klah?"

"Acceptable." Kapera replied. "I'm surprised a popular bronzerider like you is having a 'lonely meal'. Seems like you'd have plenty of willing company around."

"You'd think so, wouldn't you," he sighed dramatically, filling her mug.
"Perhaps I'm losing my touch."

"I certainly hope you haven't. I'm sure that would ruin the morale of many a Weyr resident." she quipped.

"Well, I must do my duty for the Weyr," U'kaiah nodded, picking up his mug as he took a moment to really look at the Weyrwoman. He hadn't really thought much about her. Not that he didn't like her, he just...
really hadn't noticed her. She had arrived at a time when a goldrider in these stone halls was just a tragic reminder. But he had moved on now. And finally, after all these months, it seemed the Weyr could finally move on too. He could already feel the difference in the residents - they had a goldrider's leadership again. She certainly looked the part. "And how is your morale, Weyrwoman?"

"My morale is quite fine. Unless I'm examining hidework." she joked. She was rather enjoying being Weyrwoman and hearing the way people spoke to hear, acted around her now. She was important. She was queen. It was an almost intoxicating feeling sometimes.

Hidework seemed to have the same effect on himself. "A pity. I was hoping you'd say you've been terribly lonely and miserable."

"Only at night." she replied. "During the day, I'm too busy."

"Ah, I see. Too bad its only early evening."

"It will be night soon enough, and the work will be done soon." And then it would be time for memories.

"Your work, perhaps. Alas, my work is not yet half done," the bronzerider lamented. He didn't mind really. The more he got done during the sevenday, the less he had to take with him to Dolphin Cove.

"A pity." Kapera echoed. "It would be terrible if you overworked yourself."

"More a grand pain in the arse." U'kaiah had done just that very thing before...

"For everyone." she said. "I suppose I shall have to make sure you don't, then."

"Oh? And how do you intend to do that, lady?" the bronzerider asked innocently.

"I could come by and check to make sure you're taking breaks."

"And if I'm not?" he asked curiously.

"I could order you to, but I'd rather persuade you nicely."

U'kaiah smiled. Ordering could be rather hot too... "And what kind of tactics would you use to persuade me?"

She leaned forward subtly, letting him see more than just a hint of her chest. She usually wore clothing where she could do that- it helped her attract the men... "I could offer you a more pleasant time than the hidework could."

U'kaiah let his eyes wonder down the path she had intended, knowingly falling into her trap. "I have no doubt you could certainly boost my morale."

Kapera let a smile cross her face. "I shall make sure to do that."
