K'mai

K'mai

M'dali choked on his ale a second before the green's challenging bugle rang out. **Prinniath?**

}:Show me if you are worthy!:{ She called to the males in the vicinity of the Vintner Hall before springing skyward.

**The crafters won't be happy about this,** M'dali thought as he rose from his chair and backed toward the dance floor. Prinniath gave fewer outward signs of her imminent Rising than most greens, but he still should have noticed. **Oh, well. I came here to have a good time, and now I'm sure to get it.**

K'sper usually avoided places like this. They were too noisy and he did not enjoy drinking. However, he had accompanied a few other riders from his wing to the Tavern and had even indulged in a glass of some sort of brewed concoction - it burned at first but made him feel rather good -- and was contemplating another. His thinking was a little fuzzy at the moment, so when Bentith announced, }:I chase:{, the young rider frowned in confusion.

Having come to Amber Hills to check on Evaleine, but not finding her, Z'brei had decided to stop by the tavern and have a drink, since his last visit he'd had to leave before he got to taste the ale. Barely had the young bluerider taken a sip when Valotyth informed him }:A green rises:{
**Here?**

}Why would I tell you if it were elsewhere? I will chase.:{
**This isn't exactly the best place, my friend.** Z'brei answered looking around the Tavern, thinking of the trouble this could cause. What was the green's rider thinking to bring her out at a time like this!

}:The place does not change her needs. Nor mine.:{ Already feeling the dragon lust Z'brei had no more words of caution for his lifemate.

"Crackdust!" Bheverhan swore. "Just what I needed, a wingful of flight heated 'riders in my Tavern!"

Looking towards the stage, he called out to Hartam, "Harper! Play something soft, ease their lust before they wreck the place!"

"Not much chance of that," muttered the Tavern Harper as he noted the looks on faces around him. "And on a crowded night, of course." He struck a chord, and then another, before shouting out a selection to his apprentices -
perhaps not appropriate fare for a busy tavern, but a lullaby often used to calm infants.

As the Harpers began playing, the Tavern Master began looking for his younger waitstaff, making sure that they were away from the dragonriders.

Faran skidded away from the lusty dragonriders, ignoring them as best he could. He was having second thoughts about sending his sister to the Weyr, but tried not to think of them now. He attempted to catch the Tavern Master's eye, without success. He thought that his time might best be spent away from the dragonriders. He knew the songs and stories about dragonlust, and he wanted none of it.

When Sebeth joined the chase, K'mai didn't have much protest, other than to wonder what the hidebound folk would think. **This probably won't improve their opinion of Weyr life.**

High above the Tavern, Prinniath soared, taunting the males. She was pleased to have so many, and from so many different places. But they would not catch her easily!

Her rider moved within the growing circle on the dance floor, brushing an arm here, a cheek there, no longer even aware of his surroundings.

"Oh, my!" Lymria was fanning herself with a menu. She had come to tavern to meet a trader-relative who was staying there for a while.

There was definitely a dragon rising and Bentith was interested. The alcohol-induced fogginess of K'sper's brain was gone and now he could feel his own desires mounting. "Where. . .?" He glanced around, trying to locate the greenrider, hoping . . . He groaned as he zeroed in on the rider, a male. **Do you really have to do this?**

He knew the answer even before the brown dragon replied, and found himself moving toward M'dali.

}:I chase!:{ Bentith bugled his intentions as he soared through the air in pursuit of the green, matching her speed. }:I will win!:{ L'pin had managed to sneak some time away from the weyrlings to go visit the new Tavern. He had been a Harper; he still loved to sit in crowds of people and absorb the atmosphere even if he himself wasn't being a part, and so he sat alone at his table, nursing a fine ale from the Tavern and enjoying himself.

Until Chaneth's lust overwhelmed him.

**What ARE you doing?** He demanded.

}:Chasing!:{ the blue replied, taking off to follow the beautiful green. }:I will claim you, my sweet! I fly well.:{ he told her provacatively.

**That damnfool rider!** L'pin thought as flightlust consumed him. He wished Chaneth the best of luck, though- he loved winning flights as much as the blue did.

Faran began to feel the flight lust wash over him. This was very different than when Kio rose in flight lust. He could barely control himself. He looked about the room, trying to help anyone who looked more out of place than those who were riders or had flits, and noticed Lymria sitting at a table. The sudden want to have her overwhelmed him and he leaped over tables and pushed past confused customers to reach her.

As Hartam watched the Hold harper barrel through the crowd, he shook his head and turned to his apprentices. "Go to your rooms - your _own_ rooms.
NOW." He continued to strum at his guitar, going into a ballad, one that held a sad note with an irregular rhythm that hopefully did not remind anyone of sex.

The green climbed higher and higher, feeling she could fly forever. }:You are too slow!:{ she taunted the males, turning sharply on a wingtip.

Lymria decided to leave before the flight lust became uncontrollable. She stood up and turned around, and run right into Faran. "Faran?" She was surprised to see him, and before she could stop herself, she had wrapped her arms around his neck.

Faran sweeped her up into his arms, finding his iron hold on his emotions slipping the longer he looked at her. "I think," he said, his voice low and husky, "we need to find someplace private." He said as he sweeped her legs out from under her and lifted her into his arms, never once looking away from her beautiful face.

"Oh, Faran, what a great idea," Lymria said breathlessly.

Faran's laugh was deep and husky but he carried her out of the Tavern and down to the riverbank. To the exact same place they'd had dinner the other evening, only this time, their plans were much different.

**Why?** K'sper sent the thought desperately to his dragon, though he knew the answer.

}:Because I can!:{ Bentith turned as the green did, following, closing.

Though he continued to move toward the greenrider, K'sper cast his glance about him, looking for a willing woman to divert his course.

Corran had been in to relax when the problem started, but immediately he snapped into Guard mode. He ignored the lustful feelings and the sudden awareness of attractive women, overcoming it by focusing on what was most important to him- making sure people were safe. There weren't any other Guards on duty today with as much experience as him, and thanks to having a dragonrider brother he knew a fair bit about flights, so he moved to Bheverhan and spoke urgently.

"I know this isn't something that seems decent, but how many unoccupied rooms do you have? Can I try to guide the distracted riders upstairs? When that green gets caught, and caught she will be, they're going to give into their urges. I'm worried those who haven't found partners may get violent.
If we have them alone, away from the people here, nothing inappropriate or physically dangerous can happen.

Valotyth was young and had yet to win a mating flight, but the blue was more determined than ever. Prinniath was enchanting and he knew that he must have the beautiful green.

Z'brei had made his way to the dance floor in search of the green's rider.
When he spotted M'dali, his eyes shone with a light that could have matched his dragon's. A male rider. His own preferneces merged with his dragon lust and all thoughts of family honor or position were gone. The young bluerider wanted nothing more than for his dragon to win the flight so that he could claim the handsome man.

To K'sper's relief, a young woman stepped into his path, swaying slightly as she wrapped her arms around him. A portion of his mind noted that the woman's dress showed her to be from the Hold, and that she probably would not be so open with her affections under ordinary circumstances. However, his own desires were too strong to worry with that and he crew her to him, his lips crushing against hers.

"There will be many an explanation to make tomorrow," Hartam muttered as he continued to play his gitar, noting that while many had fled the Tavern, many had remained and would probably use this event as an excuse for what would normally be considered improper behavior.

Sebeth enticed and flattered as he flew, drawing closer as the green began to tire. }:Choose me! I am the finest of all dragons, the only one worthy of you!:{ Still several lengths ahead of her suitors, Prinniath looked back. She could not outfly them much longer, and now she must choose. It did not take her long to decide, and she dipped her wings to bring her into the path of the male.

}:NOW!:{ roared Bentith, making his move.

Startled by the mental contact with his dragon, K'sper staggered away from the young woman - who turned to another partner with barely a glance toward the brownrider. "Bentith. . ." he made the last appeal to his dragon aloud as well as in his mind before stumbling toward the male greenrider and the inevitable.

}:MINE!:{ Now the brown's trumpeting was triumphant as he twined his neck with Prinniath's and claimed her as his own.
