Harki and the Heinous Pants (part 4)

Writers: Bree, Yvonne
Date Posted: 3rd April 2007

Characters: Harki, V'kelo
Description: Harki sees opportunity knocking
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 3, day 2 of Turn 4

Harki had avoided the brownrider ever since she'd failed at stealing V'kelo's pants from his weyr. She was embarrassed - at being stupid enough to get caught, and with the way she'd lost control of the situation when she had. V'kelo brought out the worst in her, it appeared. Normally she prided herself on her control. But oh, it had been hard! They flew in the same Wing, and it seemed that V'kelo was taunting her whenever the opportunity arose. He would make sly comments just loud enough for her to overhear; he's smirk as she walked past, her eyes resolutely focused somewhere else; and he wore the sharding _pants_. _All_the_time_. It seemed that he was everywhere, and when he wasn't Harki _still_ couldn't get him off her mind. It was early in the evening, shortly after the day's drills, when Harki spotted the pants again. She'd turned a corner onto a main hallway and there they were - whisking irritatingly through the air and clinging aggravatingly to V'kelo's muscular legs. She suppressed a groan and backed up against the wall, hoping that he hadn't seen her.

But of course he hadn't - his back was to her and he was whistling as he strode off wherever he was going. The greenrider narrowed her eyes
- he was wearing the ugly pants and carrying a fluffy orange towel, and a faded linen bag swung from his arm. It was likely that the bag contained soap. He was going to a bathing pool. A sly grin crept its way across her face.

There was only one public bathing pool in this section of the Weyr.
Harki dawdled for a while, then headed down the halls where she suspected V'kelo had gone, and cautiously entered the cavern the pool was in. It was hot and steamy and echoed with voices - it was busy.
Good. There was a thick wall of rock that separated the hall from the pool so that no one walking by would get a quick glance at nudity whenever the door opened. That was the Weyr's token modesty - nobody really cared. Flecks of mica sparkled in the light from the glows as the greenrider cautiously peeked around the wall.

It took her a moment to spot V'kelo - the brownrider was in the washing pool, furiously lathering his hair. No doubt with his eyes screwed shut against the lye - this was perfect. Harki strolled into the cavern proper and began peering at people's things, trying to spot the pants. It didn't take long. The bathing caverns tended to be a little on the dim side, but those pants broadcasted their hideousness like a gold flit about to rise.

She glanced nervously toward the bathing pools. Nobody was looking her way, and V'kelo was busy underwater rinsing the lather from his head. She looked back at the pants. Her heart beat a little faster as she reached out toward them, and caught for a moment as her fingers snagged the fabric.

She looked at V'kelo. He still had soap in her eyes.

Harki grinned ferally. She hooked the pants with one finger and casually strolled out of the bathing cavern as if she wasn't doing a thing wrong - and as if her heart wasn't beating a mile a minute, and she wasn't secretly hoping that a certain brownrider would notice just what she was doing.

V'kelo gave a drudge a friendly nod as he strolled down the hallway, his tiny towel barely covering his backside. He had his tunic swung around his neck and his boots in one hand, and seemed perfectly unconcerned with the rather absurd picture he made. All things considered, though, he imagined that the towel was a good deal more attractive than the pants had been.

A young greenrider grinned at him as she passed, pausing to watch him over her shoulder. "Did you have to look hard to find a towel that small?" she called back to him.

"I thought the women of the Weyr needed cheering up," he replied, casting her a wink over his shoulder. "Feeling cheerful yet?"

She laughed and rolled her eyes, leaving V'kelo to continue along his way with a smug smile. People walked through the Weyr in less from time to time, but that didn't mean he wasn't getting his share of amused and approving glances, along with one or two propositions.

Unfortunately for the ladies in question, V'kelo was a man with a mission--and nothing was going to get in the way, no matter how leggy or curvy or downright gorgeous. He reached Harki's door and gave it a thundering knock. "Open up, woman, or I'm coming in there to get you!"

The door opened and a very unconcerned Harki gave the brownrider a slow once-over as she leaned against her door frame. "V'kelo. How nice to see you. And you're wearing something appropriate.
Congratulations."

Equally unconcerned, V'kelo took his towel and looped it behind Harki's body and used it to pull her against him. "I told you to start with, sweetheart. If you wanted me naked, all you had to do was ask."

Clean and slightly damp, V'kelo's skin was marred by Thread but still felt soft against her palms when Harki put her hands on his chest to keep him at bay. Although it was sharding _hard_. His green eyes were enchanting and it was hard to remember just what she had planned on saying. Luckily for her, her mouth had a mind of its own. "If I had wanted you naked, I _would_ have just asked. All I wanted was for the pants to go. And they're gone! My work here is done. You should be thanking me."

"Mmmmm, you think so, do you?" He wrapped the towel slowly around his hands, tightening its grip on her. "I think I'm playing a different game than you are."

"I don't play games that I don't start," Harki said, a little breathlessly. "Go away."

V'kelo laughed, but his eyes were full of something far more intense than mere amusement. "You won your game, Harki. Can't we play mine now? It will be almost as fun."

"Really. And what, exactly, would be in it for me?" the greenrider asked. But before he could reply a hoot of laughter, closely followed by a loud 'slap!' made her turn red and V'kelo jump. Another greenrider, Inishi, capered down the hall and waved cheerfully at the pair of them. "Shards, V'kelo! Either do something with that hairy ass or hide it, already!"

V'kelo laughed. "I'm _trying_ to, Inishi! I should think even you could see that!" The brownrider turned back to Harki and gave her his most charming smile. "Come on, Harki. Invite me in before a bluerider comes down the hallway..."

"Does that mean you like women?" Harki glanced down. "Shards, I never would have guessed."

"Mmmmm, not just any women." He grinned and leaned down to whisper in her ear. "I like exciting women who sneak into my weyr in the middle of the night and do crazy things like steal my pants while I'm taking a bath."

Shards, but he smelled good. Harki closed her eyes. "So what does that make you?"

He laughed softly against her ear. "Crazy. And really, really turned on by you."

"Good enough," she said after a moment, then stepped back and drew him inside. Some things were worth waiting for. And some things you had to take up when the offer came along.
