Daigoro kissed Cinale on the cheek and smiled as she walked off to talk with the cooks and probably swap recipes or trade secrets or whatever it was cooks did when they got together. He had spent many a turn working in a tavern such as this back in his journeyman days. Back then, he had no designs on leadership. He was a brewer through and through. This tavern was a bit too clean, a bit too new, but it sure brought back memories.

"Well, Bhervehan," the Hallsecond smiled, holding a hand out to the man in charge of the place, "this is indeed a fine tavern you've started."

"Thank you, Diagoro. Would you like the grand tour?" Bhervehan asked, "or do you just want to go straight to the brew room I set up in the kitchen?"

That certainly peeked his curiosity. "I think I would like to see your brew room, Bhervehan," he grinned.

The Tavern Master laughed. "You'll never change, follow me."

Leading the Hallsecond through the tavern, and through the doors leading to the kitchen. Gesturing towards a large room at the rear of the kitchen he said, "after you, sir."

"Thank you." Daigoro opened the door and saw the old familiar equipment
- a grain mill, a nice sized mash and sparge tanks. "Quite the set up you have here."

"Yeah, the only problem is that it is all still so new," he complained.
"All I can smell is fresh wood and metal. It needs to be broken in still."

"Oh don't worry," Daigoro chuckled as he fingered the copper tank approvingly. "It won't be long before the smell of yeast permeates every nook and cranny."

"I know, and I am hoping you'll be able to help me there."

"Oh?" Daigoro asked curiously.

"Well, obviously this is not a larger enough set up to serve the tavern as a whole," Bhervehan said. "This is where I will work on small batch beer. I know that is close to your heart as well, and I thought you might enjoy making some specialty beers of your own."

The Hallsecond's face light up at the suggestion, but it quickly fell into a small frown. "I would love to, Bhervehan, but... I'm afraid I have a lot of responsibilities now." Sometimes he was in a rush just to get home to Cinale in the evenings. And with trying to rebuild their vineyards, recruit new apprentices, scrape together the pieces of what was left...

Bhervehan rested a hand on the man's shoulder. "Daigoro, I am not saying that you aren't a busy man, and certainly you have your hands full. But you also need to have a release. Surely Cinale would not want to see you burned out, coming home stressed each evening. I'm not asking you to stock my tavern," he continued with a chuckle. "But I am offering you a chance to do something we both know you'd enjoy."

Daigoro clicked his teeth thoughtfully. "I have missed this..."

"Think on it, old friend. In the last few turns, how much of your life is the craft, and how much is administering the craft?"

The brewer crossed his arms over his chest and lightly touched his toe to bottom of the tank. "It wasn't so bad when I was teaching. They might not have been _my_ brews, but at least I could get my hands into it from time to time with the apprentices. But now," he shrugged regretfully, "the closest I get to the actual process is inspecting another man's work from time to time. And reading their reports when they come across my desk. Catching the smell of it on the air when its yeast day..."

"So?"

Daigoro reached out to finger the rim of the brand new tank. "I _have_
had a few ideas..."

"I can't wait to taste them."
