Location: River Bluff Weyr

R'syl knocked on the door to the Weyrwoman's office, wondering what she would be like. He'd heard that she was a good Weyrwoman, but that was all. Although Usaeth seemed to like her gold well enough.

}:Tabanirth is beautiful.:{ Usaeth told him in admiration. He smiled faintly at his dragon's fascination, and hoped Tsaera would have as high an opinion of him.

"Come in." When he entered he was greeted by a stocky woman with iron grey hair and a handshake that could crush the delicate bones in ones' hand. "R'syl! Welcome to my Weyr. It's good to have you. Thank you for transferring so quickly."

"You're welcome -I think." He said with a slight smile. "I do what I can." He said as he released her hand. Hmm. The handshake and aura suggested a confident and powerful woman. He liked the thought. So many Weyrs had been changing leadership that it was good to have some solidarity.

She gestured toward a well-worn leather seat across from her desk.
"Please, sit down. Have you had a chance to speak with my Headwoman about your weyr, yet?" He shook his head as he sank into the chair. "No ma'am. Not yet. But I was told the, ah, former Weyrlingmaster's quarters were available."
He said carefully.

"Yes." For a moment the Weyrwoman looked sad, but then her emotions were battened down and she was able to smile pleasantly at the bronzerider. "Most of J'an's things have been cleared out - I believe there's a few pieces of furniture left, and some of the wall hangings and rugs. But you're welcome to move in. In fact, I'd encourage you to do so as soon as possible." There was no sense in letting ghosts linger - J'an was never coming back. "Whatever you don't want, Solieira can have someone move out this afternoon."

"Thank you. I do intend to start as soon as possible. The less time spent in an intermediate stage, the better, I think. I can't promise a seamless transition." He said with a weary smile, "But I'll do my best to make it as smooth as possible for everyone."

"Naturally. Bronzerider M'galec is your Second and will be able to get you up to speed quicker than anyone else, although I am always here to help you in any way I can. And the Weyrlings... I might be slightly biased, but they seem to be a good group this turn," she said, smiling faintly.

"Biased?" He asked simply, returning her smile with raised eyebrows. "How so?"

"Well, I guess I'm sort of biased toward _all_ the classes that are from Tabanirth's Clutch..." Tsaera said. R'syl didn't look convinced.
**Ah well. He'll find out sooner or later.** "That, and my grandson Impressed."

"Ah..." He said in understanding. Her grandson. It didn't really concern him that much. It would be best for all concerned if he treated the boy the same as the rest, especially since he was still establishing himself here. If not, then he would deal with that when he came to it. "I understand. My... daughters both Impressed. It's hard not to be biased." His voice faltered on the mention of his children, his smile vanishing, but he managed to finish the rest of the sentence. The Weyrwoman paused, tempted to ask about it, but decided not to pry. R'syl's business was his own. "I do my best. Anyway, our Weyrlings Impressed just last month, so they have a ways to go yet. I have every faith in your ability to teach, R'syl. I've heard nothing but good about you."

R'syl chuckled. "Thank you, Weyrwoman. I hope I can live up to your expectations. And I'm sure your grandson will do wonderfully." He added.

She smiled slightly. "That's really up to him, but I hope so. Is there anything that you wished to bring up?"

He hesitated, running the millions of things that needed done over in his mind, and shook his head. "Not at the moment. But I'm almost certain I'll think of something as soon as I'm no longer here." He confessed with a smile.

"I'd think less of you if you didn't. Track me down and ask - that's what I'm here for, R'syl."

It was the way the Weyr was run, he knew, but he liked that the offer wasn't simply a required set of words. Tsaera meant it. A strong Weyrwoman, with a strong interest in her Weyr. He definitely liked her! His smile was wide and genuine this time as he replied. "Thank you. I'll certainly keep that in mind, Weyrwoman."

"Good. Now." She picked up a small sheaf of hides and handed them to him. "The top copy is a map - some new residents find it useful to have a visual representation of the Weyr before them to help fix its shape in their minds. I've also included a list of our current Weyrlings and Weyrlingstaff, although you'll meet them soon enough.
Solieira is my Headwoman, Master Jynrek is currently my Master Healer. Flag down a drudge once you leave my Weyr and get them to take you to see either Sol or one of her assistants, and they'll show you your new weyr. Welcome to River Bluff."
