"I thought the lure of my bathingpool would bring you around eventually," U'kaiah grinned at the greenrider at his door. Sarian returned his grin and held up a bottle of wine. "I decided that I might owe you a warm welcome back to your weyr, all things considered. I even brought you my only decent bottle of wine." It was something of a peace offering, considering the fact that it was partly her fault that he'd gotten moved out of his weyr to begin with.
"Well, I can't say no to that. I even have some glasses unpacked." He opened the door wider. "Won't you come in?"
Smiling, she leaned up to kiss his cheek before sliding past him into the weyr. "Ahhh, just as nice as I remember."
"I didn't feel the need to change much. Though how I was able to fit all this stuff in that other tiny little weyr was a mystery I will never quite understand." Course it helped that most of it was still in boxes shoved under every table, into every closet and behind every chair in that place.
Sarian decided not to point out that she'd never _seen_ his other weyr.
They hadn't been particularly friendly for most of the time he'd been serving out his punishment. "Well, I certainly like having you back.
J'nus isn't nearly as fun as you are. And not nearly as nice to look at, either."
"In the bathing pool, or in the sky?" U'kaiah asked with a curious quirk of his eyebrow. "Either," she replied casually, grinning at him briefly over her shoulder before she went to peek at the bathing pool. "Ahhh, this is just how I remember it, too. And _so_ nice..."
"Well, then, shall we take our wine on the sofa or in the pool?" After all, she had helped him break in his bathing pool the first time around.
Sarian tugged at the laces on her loose skirt until the fabric slid down her legs. "I know what my first choice would be..."
No surprise there. "I'll get the glasses."
When he returned, Sarian had shed her blouse and was dipping a toe into the water. Even more noticeable than her lack of clothing, though, were the rough bruises on her arm that had faded to a sickly looking yellow.
She caught the direction of his eyes and huffed. "Sharding N'vanik. I wish I'd listened to you before... what an ass."
U'kaiah frowned. "N'vanik did that? On _purpose_?"
She slid into the water and scowled. "Well, he certainly wasn't trying to be friendly."
The bronzerider could feel the edge of anger creeping up on him. "He didn't... force you..."
Sarian made a rude noise. "No, the man's cracked. Had some sort of insane fit and tossed me out of his weyr just when things were about to get interesting."
"Thank Faranth, I thought I was going to have to kill the man." It was an exaggeration, but more then once thought of violence towards N'vanik had crossed his mind. Once he had even acted on it... "Why did he toss you out?"
"I don't know..." She grinned at him suggestively as she leaned back in the water. "I thought I could be quite entertaining when I wanted to be.
Must be something wrong with his head."
Well, U'kaiah knew from personal experience that Sarian had a way of...
unintentionally pushing all the wrong buttons. "What did you say to him?"
"Oh, he was talking about that _girl_ of his. He's completely obsessed with her, you know. It's a little frightening." She gave a dramatic shiver. That was a disturbing thought. "Talryne?"
"Mmmmm." She shook her head as she ran a hand through the water. "He says he wasn't sleeping with her, but he was so defensive I don't know if I believe him. If he really isn't sleeping with her, that's even _more_ disturbing."
"He's _not_?" U'kaiah was shocked. He thought that's what they had been doing holed up in his weyr all that time. "Then what is he doing this for? Does he think he's saving her?"
"That's if you believe he's really keeping his hands to himself." Her eyes said all too clearly what she thought of _that_ idea. "I suppose it's not _impossible_. If they were friendly, maybe he wouldn't be in such a terrible mood. Can't even take a sharding joke."
"Some people don't quite get the humor of your jokes sometimes, Sarian,"
the bronzerider reminded her as he slipped into the bathing pool.
She pointed to her bruised arm. "Maybe not, but he could have just tried not laughing. Dragging me across the weyr and tossing me out was a _bit_
of an overreaction!"
"Yes," he agreed. Shards, what was he going to do with that man? "Perhaps I should have a little talk to him." Remind him how a _real_
man ought to behave.
"Tell him to go find himself a woman he _can_ sleep with," she retorted.
"Might do him some sharding good. I'm not offering again, though."
"I certainly can't blame you." No matter what Sarian said or did, U'kaiah would never have hurt her. Or had he? "Did I do that to you? Leave bruises, I mean?" He knew he had been pretty mad that day in her weyr.
She hesitated a moment. "Not really..." Her voice trailed off and she shrugged uncomfortably. "Not as bad, anyway." Of course, it had been more frightening for her because it had been _U'kaiah_, who she could never have imagined being that angry at her.
"I'm sorry I hurt you, Sarian." But knowing that, how could he really lecture N'vanik on how to treat a woman gently. Sarian smiled and reached out a hand to him. "I'm sorry I had sex on your desk with the biggest sharding ass in the Weyr."
"Well," U'kaiah chuckled as he took her hand and pulled her towards him. "I suppose we're even then, aren't we."
"We could always try to make it up to each other," she pointed out, sliding her arms around his waist. "We owe it to each other, I think."
"And after we make it up to each other, I suppose next you would suggest that we make up for lost time as well?" he asked with an amused quirk of his eyebrow. U'kaiah certainly wasn't opposed to either idea.
"An excellent plan," she replied with a grin. And since it _was_ such a good plan, she immediately set it into action.
