Description: Indyath takes the initiative and calls T'nac to come see Maiz
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 2, day 25 of Turn 4

Maiz was bored and she was lonely. Since fighting with U'kaiah she felt like she had no one to talk to.

And she missed T'nac. As much as she hated to admit it, she really missed him a lot. **How did I get myself into such a mess?** she asked Indyath.

}:Well...:{ the green started. **Never mind!** Maiz interrupted. **I don't think I'd like the answer anyway.**

Somewhat smuggly, and behind her rider's back, Indyath sent out a call to someone who she felt her rider needed to talk to, but certainly would not have willingly called. The bronzerider was rather surprised at the summons, but he quickly dropped what he was doing and responded. Almost out of breath T'nac showed up at her weyr. "Maiz?" he called as he peeked his head around the thick wooden door. "Is everything all right?"

The greenrider was suprised by his arival and by his aparent concern.
"Of course. Why wouldn't I be?" she asked curiously.

"Indyath called me. She said you needed me." Thank Faranth she seemed all right. He was half afraid something had gone wrong with the baby.

Maiz narrowed her eyes, clearly indicating to her green that they would have a talk later. "I didn't tell her to call you. She came up with that idea all on her own. There's nothing wrong, I was merely bored."

T'nac couldn't help a feeling of dissapointment. "Should I go then?"
**Since it seems you really didn't want me here after all...** "I've missed you," she blurted out as an answer.

The bronzerider blinked a couple times, more than a little surprised.
"Really?"

"Yes, really," Maiz managed softly. Her cheeks turned bright pink. Did he think her completely heartless?

"You just... didn't seem happy to see me before." It had hurt that she was only allowing him to be part of her pregnancy reluctantly.

She didn't know what to say. "I want this baby," she finally stated. "I was afraid that you wouldn't and that maybe you wouldn't want me to have it either. I was scared, so I pushed you away..."

"Well, I want this baby too." Who knew when he would have another chance? No one could predict who would survive the pass and who wouldn't. Every Threadfall could be his last.

"You say that now," Maiz said gently. "But what about when he or she is actually born? Babies cry and keep you up half the night. They need to be fed and have their diapers changed. If I have to do that alone, I will. But I will not have someone there but unwilling to help me. Not this time." She wasn't aware of her slip, her small referense to the past.

"This time?" he asked, catching on to her slip. Had she been through this before?

She pursed her lips, clearly not wanting to talk on this particular subject. "I have twin boys. I told you that, didn't I? They live at Vista Point."

"No, you didn't." In fact, she had never been much for talking about herself.

Maiz shrugged. "They just turned 2."

"You must miss them." Even though she seemed to be trying to pretend as though it didn't matter.

"Yes, I do," she admitted. "You still didn't answer my original question though."

"You want to know if I'd stand by you?"

"Yes." "You told me you didn't want me anymore without a single reason. You didn't even tell me you were pregnant with our baby. You pushed me away at every turn. But I'm still here, Maiz. Do you really think a dirty diaper will scare me away?" He took a step closer to her, hoping she would close the distance. Just any sign at all.

She didn't step forward, but she didn't step back either. "You scare me, ok? Is that reason enough for you? You are too nice and too perfect and if I have learned anything in life it is that if something seems too good to be true it probably is!"

He threw his hands up helplessly. "How can I fight that? I can't erase your past. All I can say is... you just have to trust me."

"You should probably go," Maiz said softly. "I am sorry if Indyath and I disturbed you."

"I don't want to go. Please, Maiz, don't do this again." "Like you said, I'd have to trust you... but I don't. I can't."

"Please, just give me a chance. Just one chance." He took a couple steps closer. If she'd just let him touch her, if he could just _hold_ her, even for a moment... maybe she'd remember just how good it felt.

"I don't know what to do! I don't know!" she cried, clearly not convinced but very very tempted.

T'nac was hopeful. At least it wasn't a definite 'no'. He reached out to touch her hands. "I don't know what has happened to you in the past, but I was no part of it. Just one chance, Maiz."

"Okay," she said very quietly.

T'nac released the breath he hadn't even realized he had been holding. "Okay," he breathed, his arms slidding around her, wanting nothing more than to just hold her again.

Maiz let herself relax in his arms, but all the while she was thinking,
**I hope I don't regret this.**
